His work ethic let him down IMO, you are always going to have issues when you put on as much weight between fights as Vargas did.

i think being on steroids didnt help him much either
im not an expert on steroids but im pretty sure being on and off them as much as he seemed to be really messed with his "skills" atleast his reflexs and ****. I think him actually having defense would have been great, getting hit cleanly no matter who you are is going to rock your ****

i think Vargas was chinny personally ,but regardless wether he was chinny or not he could have been so much better if he was slightly more duarbale

Vargas had a chin. His struggles with weight, and tendency to take huge punches were his downfall.

I mean was he supposed to stay up right when Tito landed those left hooks? He took a lot of clean punches from Oscar before he went down too. I dont believe he had a bad chin at all, not until later in his career.

Sometimes he would be a little too methodical/slow with his punches, so his opponent could measure him with devastating punches.

Couldnt agree more. He had some decent fights which puts a shine on his career but against Mayorga he didnt wanna know, he didnt look interested and he lost alot of respect from me because of it.

Yes he's been unlucky with injuries but he has never been in the class of De La Hoya or Trinidad, and never would have been.
