Mosely was 34-0 as a lightweight fighter before moving up in weight. As a lightweight Mosely knocked out 32 of his 34 opponents. He fought the best the division had to offer him at his time and moved up because he cleaned up the division. At the time I wouldnt say that the division was stacked from bottom up, so of course he had some limited opponents. My question is do you think he is the greatest lightweight of all time, and if not how high would u rate him on the all time list?
Was Shane Mosely the greatest Lightweight ever?

4-0 (1 KO) with one of the decisions being pretty questionable is NOT enough to make you the greatest of all-time at that weight. Sorry.
Mosley didn't fight Johnston which is a big dent in his claim of lightweight supremacy.
Castillo has a better resume at 135 than Mosley IMO.
Duran is universally recognized as the best of all time at that weight.
Honestly, Duran is probably the most universally recognized best of a certain weight class. In other words, he is head and shoulders above the rest of the historical lightweights than say, Hagler was compared to other middleweights, or Robinson was compared to other welterweights. Holyfield's dominance at cruiserweight might compare, but idk.
Duran definately.Comment

wilfredo gomez is the most universally recognised best of a certain weightclass....superbantamweight....the way chava sanchez handled him just a little up at feather may be an indicator that maybe he didnt face men as talented as to trouble him at that weight class though(that being said, wilfredo did fight the best the division had to offer at the time...)
but at lw duran is the best...mosely just doesnt have the resume.....though in a fantasy match up, id have problems picking either guy...Comment

The same way that Mosley is badass, but not even close to Duran. Morales was badass at 122 and he isn't even close to Gomez. That is ****ing insane.
Oh yeah! Ricardo Lopez at minimumweight might have a bigger margin than Gomez at 122. That or Holyfield at Cruiserweight. He was pretty dominant. The consensus second best was beaten by Holyfield at that weight class, so...Comment
