You have the two sparring sessions confused...when RJ is sparring with McClellan and Sugar Ray sitting by the ring, he is sparring with me at Sugar Ray's gym in Maryland...when he is sparring with Lindell, that is at his gym in Florida. I am one of the guys standing ringside (I have a black hat on) but Ray and Gerald werent there.

When you look at Curry and his amateur record, he probably reached him prime and blew his load before even turnning pro.

His rise as a pro was dramatic and he was amazing. He simply lost it overnight. He had great defence, and his punches were fast, accurate and hard. He had it all. If he would have turned pro a year or two earlier, he could have ended up on some all time great lists.

            We'll never know now.

I would likely have sparred with Gerald during that camp but, as he himself told me, his jaw was still hurting from his fight (he won) with RJ about four weeks earlier

If he had a record like that he would have been at the Golden Gloves, the U.S. Championships, The Olympic Trials and certainly would have been a regular in the USA/ABF national rankings.
