LOL the worst analogy ever, hence you have a lot of history to learn.

Two nations with completly different cultures that have been at war/had beef from 14th century to present day and you cant tell the difference between the two, speaks more of your lack of knowledge rather then a lack of difference between the two nations.

And FYI not so long ago the Soviet Union was called a Union because it was a Union of 16 differnt republics with over 120 languages spoken.

I always root for the underdog unless the underdog is fighting a boxer that I really like. The nationality doesn't really matter but most of the times I'm always rooting for my Mexican homies

Tomorrow will be a perfect example of why I made this thread. To all the Mexican and puerto rican posters, how will you determine who you think will win.

Will it be strict loyalty to your team and nothing else, or do any of you guys view the fights and think " my guy has no chance , so the other guy will win".

Boxing at its finest will be on display tomorrow, We all owe a great round of applause for all that puerto Rico and mexicao has given to the fight game.

Ukraine and Russia are more like Scotland and England, but Ukrainians generally like Russians more than the Scots like the English.

I look at things realistically, if a dude has no shot at all, I'll say it. I'm Mexican, so i want them to excel, but if i know after 12 rds they lost, then I say they lost and wont make excuses. I also won't support a fighter just because he's Mexican, I have personal favorites along with fighters who i just don't like.
I dont get the whole heritage or regional based fan thing. How is it a reflection on oneself if a fighter of the same region wins. I mostly root for guys who I enjoy watching skill or stylewise or who I admire. Also root for the underdog alot especially when its a showcase bout and the guy who they picked to fight the prospect has little chance.

I understand the question but I don't think it was stated properly. I think the keyword is root, when you root for someone it's usually because you have something in common with them or they have a trait that you admire or respect.

For example I admire Chris Byrd the way he carries himself, his talents, skill & his accomplishments despite his obvious disadvantages. I rooted for him against Wlad, but absolutely knew he was gonna get crushed.

I think someone is just a plain idiot if they can't put their pride away for reality.
