i think this goes back to louis schmeling 2 and what it signified.i mean if your countrymen is a very good fighter and you're a fan your gonna root for em.it one of the most popular sports in the world and being a combat sport one man vs one man it's gonna have nationalistic leanings.

What i'm trying to say is if your guy is from Puerto Rico, do you solely support him because he from PR. Are factors like skills and achievemnt mean anything or is it "Hey he's one of us and thats all that Matters"

no you gotta have skills to me.the only thing that bothers me is people who totally rub a fighter off,like i said before,cotto and gomez is gonna be a good fight,but some ****s just rile you up and then you're like man **** that i got 30 k on cotto to blast em.funny thing is it's the floyd boys i've always had an enormous amount of respect for mexican fighters cause there great competitors, but then you've got other posters on both side of the the rivalry who act like it's a ****ing landslide,like there is no competiton when it is,it's the celtics lakers yankees red sox real madrid vs fc barca of boxing.as you can see i got nothing on kermit;odds are he's gonna lose,and the only reason i'd want him to win so he can redeem himself for quiting like that.i know odds are margo and cotto is on for june or when ever the **** it is,and there it starts again.

Or in other words, Suppose a black guy wanted hatton to beat floyd. Would he be a sell out ,would he have to side with Floyd because both are black. Would the fact that he was boxing fan for yrs and happen to like hatton over floyd even matter.

Yeah, he is a down to earth fellow. He's mexican but i don't follow his career or have interest in him, so threrfore i root for cotto who i have followed and expect to win.

A friend of mine only roots for black fighters because he is black, but I just root for the fighters I like.

I know what you mean. I want boxers from mexico or mexicans from the US to win, its natural to pull for your team. What i don't do is make excuses or say someone won when they obviously lost. I wont let my objective reasoning be clouded by my favoritism. I also will not claim that a boxer is the **** when he is obvioulsy lacking skills or signature wins.
