what he had to overcome outside of the ring to become champion is toughness alone in itself. most guys would break down and go about a pity for themselves. but tapia used that **** as fuel, i like that about him

Yori Boy Campus was one tough dude. Iron chin, never say die attitude. Gatti, obviously. Graziano, Marciano, Ward, Frazier, McCullough (good call), countless others. too many to name

I think hes an under rated boxing trainer too. He did great with the Orneles brothers too bad they dumped him.

McGullough used to be fun to watch especially when he first stepped on the scene he had great handspeed and could take one hell of a punch a fight between him and Johnny Tapia would have been a great fight too.

But i think McGullough was rushed a bit, he had one too many tough fights before he ever became Champion and imo, that took a little from his career and because of his trainer imo, that didn't concitrate on his speed? he lost some of his speed later on in his boxing career. When i first seen him on USA Tuesday Night Fights he had some very quick hands later on he seemed to trade his speed for his toughness. But he was exciting to watch. Another that would have been a great fight was Ayala and McGullough another guy that punchs in every round would have been a great a fight too.

As for the topic, im throw in an oldie kind of forgotten fighter.

Rafael Ruelas, man if you seen this fight win his first title you'll wonder how did he survive. He was tough as nails, never gave up, his brother was a hell of a fighter too.

Campas is one very tough guy, i don't think anyone will ever knock him off his feet even though he's fighting way over his weight class and way past his prime the guy is still tough as nails.

Bobby Chacon was very tough and always seemed to find a way back into a fight when it looked like he was going to lose.

Sadly he is paying the price for that now...

Marvin Hagler had a granite jaw.

I'll second Wayne McCullough, heart of a lion and a chin of iron. I loved watching him argue with ref Richie Steele between rounds when he was being clearly outclassed by Oscar Larios and taking hell. That man has no fear.

I would have said Steve Collins too, until he withdrew from a fight with Calzaghe.
