First off, the decision over Winky wasn't lacklustre. It was a great technical battle. Winky came forward and made it a fight, Hopkins did what he does best, boxed, protected himself, stepped up his game when he needed to, and pulled out the W. As a boxing purist I enjoyed that fight a lot. It's always great when you get two guys who are completely well rounded battling each other. And Winky is still a top pound-for-pound fighter.
As far as retirement goes, there would be no more fitting way for Hopkins to ride off into the sunset as a 2-weight world champ, a living legend and one of the best - if not the best - fighter of his era
