No. See, that's the point- you can be offended if he says something slanderous about your culture, sure. If you are from Puerto Rico and he says in that country they teach fighters dirty tactics- you have every right to call that ignorant. He didn't say it was a race issue, though. Culture and race are not the same. Understand my point? A Mexican born and raised in Germany is going to display the characteristics of a German because of how he was socialized. He's Mexican by ethnicity, sure, but his culture is most likely going to display a much more Germanic flair.

I'm not defending the actual statement- but I am denying it to be a racist, one. What I read in his post is that his father told him in the Caribbean islands fighters were taught by their trainers to fight dirty. This can be wrong. It can be ******- but he's talking about social contexts. Not race.

If he had said, "Puerto Rican fighters have that Latino temper, they're born with it, so when a fight isn't going their way...they do dirty ****." That is an ignorant, deplorably racist statement because it implies something derogatory due to genetics.

No one said anything about Puerto Ricans genetically, did they? It was a cultural slight. I agree he could be wrong, and a Puerto Rican can be offended, but there is a slight difference.

Anyway, I'm trying to play devil's advocate because I think people are very sensitive to this topic and may have taken his comment wrong.

Cornered picks up with the lives of those people still affected by the crime 25 years later and answers many unanswered questions such as why was this de****able act carried out for the Collins-Resto fight in particular? And, how did the perpetrators manage to get the tampered gloves past New York State Athletic Commission officials? Well, I DONT WANT TO OFFEND ANYONE OK? But, I am not surprised the he is a guy from the islands( PR, Domincan Rep., etc), back then they taught their fighters sto fight dirty. I know this because my dad was an assistant trainer to 2 world champions. One is Jese Benavidez of Corpus Christi, Texas (my hometown). My dad toldme stories of some island fighters and it was really crazy. Ever wonder why JulCesChavez wore the red thing around his head? Because Edwin Rosario tried to do voodoo/black magic on him. He was informed by another person that did the same stuff, and wore the red thing because that is supposedly blessed or reversed cursed. I know it sounds dumb, but witch doctor **** is almost like another religion in Mexico and The Islands. Also if you look at Edwin Rosarios face when Chavez came into the ring, he has a bit of a slight shocked look. My dad told me about it and showed me.
