I would love to see it in an arena, especially in NYC where I can easily attend. However the financial truth is that 20k seats and Casino Hosting fee's makes a lot more money than 40k-50k tickets sold.
I hate the whole Vegas fight fan thing though. Its kinda like the superbowl crowds (notoriously quiet). Many have compted tickets and they are not usually boxing fans but more fans of events. A MSG or Staple Center crowd will have more energy and be more exciting than Vegas because more true boxing fans will be in attendance.
If (as long as cotto keeps winning its more like WHEN) Cotto fights mayweather would you be more in favor of it being in an outdoor arena (or even an arena for any sports team...doesnt have to be an outdoor one) or would you prefer to just see it in a vegas casino arena?
I think having the fight in an outdoor arena (or any big arena; even inside) would be a great thing for the sport.
It adds to the atmosphere and makes things way more exciting.
if hatton can sellout an arena for fighting virtually a "no-name" then cotto v. mayweather could sell out an arena as well (maybe not as quick...but they could still do it). so i dont want to hear that arguement.
which do you prefer?
(i know its been done before but that was awhile ago; i'd like to know what the current opinion is).
i think its great for the sport in all aspects;
A) Money aspect (would do great numbers and allow more fans to be in attendance)
B) Fans point of view (gives us at least hope for boxing to return to its old state with 50,000 people turning out for a fight)
C) great for the fighters (they could do something that hasnt been done in a long time and open the gates for more fights like this)
dude england has great fans that follow their teams all over the world. they are probably the best fans in the world. Cotto vs mayweather would not sell out a 30,000 seat areana. cotto doesnt even have a big fan base outside of new york. If i remember correctly he didnt even sell out the arena against mosley. Floyd is a bigger draw but it still wouldn't sell out a stadium. Las vegas is the best place in the world to fight. the atmosphere is crazy there's a buzz all over town and vegas is well vegas you cant beat it!

cotto could have one ****ing fan in the entire world if floyd is as much a draw as you say he is,they'll fill yankee stadium.

I don't know how you cam up with that assumption but i think its rediculous. I can almost bet you have never been to a fight in las vegas or even las vegas in general!! Crowd noise and energy all starts inside the ring. If there is nothing to cheer about then you will not see a crazy atmosphere being you live in NYC you might have attended a knicks and can relate to what im talking about

these guys would not sell 50,000 tickets are you serious???? come on dude be real. What you see with a loved fighter by a completely different fan base in england is alot different then what you see here in the states. You need to stop living in others peoples world and be more realistic. just like hatton couldnt sell out a stadium in the states against the same opponent.

Absolutely it should, but it wont. Las Vegas Casinos pay a lot more.
But I REALLY hope that it does. They can sell a lot more seats, but since Boxing isnt that popular anymore the seats would have to be sold cheap in order to sell out, which would defeate the purpose of having more seats.
ya digg?
yes they would have to be dirt cheap and those tickets are going to be way up there second deck if they sell that much and that might keep people away considering the view wont be that great. They would have to bring in a huge i mean huge screen to see the action a little better.
