    Mayweather V. Cotto at Ballpark

If (as long as cotto keeps winning its more like WHEN) Cotto fights mayweather would you be more in favor of it being in an outdoor arena (or even an arena for any sports team...doesnt have to be an outdoor one) or would you prefer to just see it in a vegas casino arena?

I think having the fight in an outdoor arena (or any big arena; even inside) would be a great thing for the sport.

It adds to the atmosphere and makes things way more exciting.

if hatton can sellout an arena for fighting virtually a "no-name" then cotto v. mayweather could sell out an arena as well (maybe not as quick...but they could still do it). so i dont want to hear that arguement.

    which do you prefer?

(i know its been done before but that was awhile ago; i'd like to know what the current opinion is).

    i think its great for the sport in all aspects;
    A) Money aspect (would do great numbers and allow more fans to be in attendance)

    B) Fans point of view (gives us at least hope for boxing to return to its old state with 50,000 people turning out for a fight)

    C) great for the fighters (they could do something that hasnt been done in a long time and open the gates for more fights like this)

How hard is it for people to understand that casinos can afford larger site fees than large stadiums?

You can't lose thousands of dollars playing blackjack at Yankee Stadium, or rent a hotel room there either.

It would be better to see more fights in stadiums, but Cash Rules Everything, and has the final say.

          true.

however i think if boxing used more sponsors to cover such fees it wouldnt be such an issue (thats what was done before modern vegas fights).

think about the superbowl? they charge millions of dollars for a 30 second commerical.

i think yankee stadium is a great place to have this fight to be honest.

i think out of ANY outdoor stadium in the U.S. this would be the best place to have the fight...

N.Y. is to the eastcoast (for fights) as to what Vegas is to the westcoast.

its the most logical place outside of vegas to have it.

and i think since the stadium is new and majority of cotto's suporters are in n.y. why not have it there since it has the best chance of selling out.

Boxing has a tough time getting sponsors. It might've been the Mancini-Kim tragedy on live TV that lead to the sponsors turning their back on boxing, but it's pretty hard for boxing to get sponsors.

                  you have a point there...

no one wants to be known as the company that sponsored a fight where someone was tragically killed.

Absolutely it should, but it wont. Las Vegas Casinos pay a lot more.

But I REALLY hope that it does. They can sell a lot more seats, but since Boxing isnt that popular anymore the seats would have to be sold cheap in order to sell out, which would defeate the purpose of having more seats.

                    ya digg?
