    Uhhh, they are both green.

Remember the original question I proposed? Would Calzaghe beat that Roy Jones? I say yes he would, and I also say that he beats that Hopkins.
My God, you are dense. I am not saying anyone is green, you are. Neither of them were "green" as far as I'm concerned. Younger? Yes...although I don't know how you can even call Hopkins that when he was 28. But green? Please.

And would Calzaghe beat the Jones who fought Hopkins? **** no, that same Jones kicked James Toney's ass a year later. What are you, on drugs?

Uhhh, he definately had a hell of a lot better ring control than he did in his fights before Jones. Definately. I'm talking about the Hopkins that fought Dennis Milton and Danny Mitchell. He was a straight up slugger.
You mean WELL before he fought Jones? Well yeah! You are hilarious. He fought Mitchell in what, his 12th fight? And you're comparing that to the 28 year old, 22-1, #1 contender Bernard Hopkins? Please

He changed it after he lost to Jones,
And when did he tell you this?

but he was starting to pick it up around that time. That being said, I'll take Joe Calzaghe over a Hopkins who is just starting to learn his craft that made him great.
Battling his way to the #1 contender slot in the US-centered IBF and fighting for the world title but he's JUST starting to learn his craft? Whatever dude.

Apart from Jones, I think Calzaghe will be the best opponent Hopkins has faced.

FAN: Roy jones is my favorite fighter... I think hes exciting, different, and unique, tons of accomplishments, and i LOVE watching him fight.. he made me a fan of this sport... and I definitely follow his entire career and admire what hes done.

NUTHUGGER: Roy jones is the greatest ****er to ever lace up the gloves. Even at 39, he will beat ANYONE he gets in the ring with. The knockouts were a fluke. Tarver and johnson is garbage. Roy will CRUSH calzaghe and Dawson. And STILL UNBEATABLE.

            Catching the difference here?
That's the difference I see between you and robjrr in that regard. I recognise you're a fan but I think rob is a hugger.

On this fight, Roy Jones 22-0 vs Joe Calzaghe 44-0 I think Calzaghe would win a close fight. It was Roys first 12 rounder and Hopkins was no where near his best there.

Segundo Mercado (yeah...) dropped Hopkins twice and drew with him after the Roy Jones fight.
Before the Roy Jones fight Hopkins' greatest win came over journeyman Gilbert Baptist who had a 26-14 record.
Hopkins had been active as a pro for 3 years.

Roy Jones on the other hand, while still quite green as a fighter, was already a top prospect having defeated several top middleweights and title contenders. Had a great amateur background as well.

Hopkins made significant improvements after that first Mercado fight, changing his style. I'd say B-Hop was at his best from 1997 to 2001.

Bernard "The Terror" Hopkins' early fighting style 1991.

                Hopkins vs Roy Jones 1993.

                Hopkins vs Mercado 1994.

                Hopkins vs Glen Johnson 1997.
This was one of Hopkins' greatest performances.

                      Calzaghe after Roy Jones.

I accept he was green, but trying to pin him down was like trying catch a bar of soap in a prison shower.
