marco antionio barrera is WAY past his prime and it wouldnt even be fair...especially since he doesnt fight at 135.

secondly...MANNY PACQUAIO? beating katsidis makes him all of the sudden eligible to fight the second best p4p fighter in the world?

no it doesnt...not by a longshot...

he should probably just fight campbell and shut up...or not fight campbell and shut up.

if he wants the big money fights get past campbell or diaz and THEN you can talk about big money fights...casamayor is acting REAL ignorant at the moment to think a katsidis win makes him eligible for some of the sports best.

dont get me wrong...it was an impressive win...but he needs a fight or two to prove he can maintain that type of ability and it wasnt just a stroke of luck that he put on such a good performance.

Although I can understand where you're coming from, it doesn't make any sense to say that last paragraph. He doesn't need to prove himself with more wins! He's been the lightweight champion for most of the decade and has beaten and fought all of the top guys at the weight throughout his whole career! The Katsidis win just proved that he's still got some fight left in him.

He deserves his big pay day but it should come in the form of a rematch with Katsidis. Most people would pay pretty good dough to see that and if they promoted it very well it would be a huge bout which could potentially earn him a packet. As much as fighting anyone apart from Pacquiao would.

To say the Katsidis win doesn't mean he's ready for the sports best is crazy! He is among the sports best and has been for a very long time. His last performance was shocking but he came out and gave a brilliant showing against one of the best young up and comers in the sport and has proven once again that he most certainly is already, and has been for a long time, among the sports elite.

what i dont get from this lightweights is, why can't they fight each other? why are they calling guys from lower weight class? damn if u are a man why call guys whose smaller than you!! they should call out each other in that division.

hell have u ever seen juan manuel marquez called out israel vasquez? or have u seen pacquiao called out ponce de leon? or morales called out rafa marquez? no!!! they did not. they called out great fighters in their level and gave a great fight.

so tell me why do this big lightweights call the smaller guys? to get money? well, that's lame. it just shows that this guys are parasites. they would hug on smaller opponents who are popular to get more money and to be famous, by what, winning by points or some lucky knock out from a smaller guy? ****en ridiculous.

If he's worried about money perhaps he should give Katsidis a rematch.

Take it Aussie. They'll get a crowd.

I think we excuse certain fights because of context. Take Cotto-Gomez or De la Hoya-Forbes. If someone has the good sense to bring up how ludicrious these matches are, what a real mismatch each is, someone else will chime in dutifully, "They are just tune-ups.." and proceed to explain what fight is coming next.

So, what is a tune-up, then? It's a way to stay active and make money. Cotto isn't going to learn anything new about himself fighting contender reject Gomez. De la Hoya- who has fought Hopkins, Mosley and current pound for pound champion- Mayweather, isn't going to discover some secret about elite fighting he hasn't already been exposed to. The sole reason for these fights are to make money with an easy victory, a fight that should be simple work, and move on to the next challange.

So, if we want to criticize Casamayor for wanting the biggest payday over the most competitive fights...well, then, we have dozens of boxers we need to start booing- including the big dogs. If a fighter can get a pass for wanting to advance their career and make money without taking a risk, Casamayor should be able to admit he's old, doesn't have many fights left, and is trying to go out milking the boxing cash cow.

I dont see a problem, Casa is ****in 36, went under the radar for most of his career, until the santacruz fight he was on the short end of any close fight he was in... let him get a freakin payday.

the biggest joke is floyd participating in wrestlemania and disgracing the honorable sport of wrestling
and his nuthuggers still think hes p4p number 1 even if he doesnt plan to fight in 2008 except for de la hoya who he already beat

At least Casa said that he is willing to face Pacman. Look at what Floyd is doing.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Barrera? You want a shot as **** fighter who started at 122, and has never fought at 135? **** off Casa.

Giving Barrera a shot at a lightweight title would be a disgrace. My prediction is that Casamayor fights Juan Diaz or a rematch with Katsidis. Either of those fights would be easy to promote.
