Could it be that Calzaghe might be walking with a false sense of security.
You might be forgetting that Joe Calzaghe completely ruined Jeff lacy. Before the fight with JC, Jeff looked pretty impressive, that's why there were so many people predicting a Lacy KO.

Jeff also suffered from a bad rotator cuff injury later. When Jeff fought Manfredo he was definitely not 100% healed. Jeff is a warrior, make no mistake about it. He lacks skills, but his bravery and guts are off the scale.

In fact the details of Jeff's injury are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Lacy

According to Dr. Goldberger, this type of tear would cause significant pain. " I am surprised that Jeff was able to continue the fight. The pain had to be severe. His courage is amazing."

Jim Wilkes, Lacy's adviser said "It's a bad injury, it could be career threatening, but we certainly hope it isn't. No one can believe Jeff was even able to finish the fight. It's amazing that he did. Lacy is seeing a shoulder specialist on Tuesday and that surgery would take place this week. They want to schedule it as quickly as possible while it is still a fresh tear. They think it's a full thickness tear of the tendon and they also think part of the muscle is torn, which makes it an even worse injury. They'll look to do the arthroscopic surgery, but they'll probably have to open the shoulder up in full. The doctor said he doesn't know how he fought with such a bad injury."

UK boxing fans knew how good he was before the Lacy fight.

You've answered your own question. American's just don't know much about british boxing, which is fine. I don't know much about Danish boxing.

Some of our fighters have been the real deal (Benn, Eubank, Honeygan, Lewis, Hamed) and some have been hype jobs.

Calzaghe is 100% the genuine article top 5 p4p fighter with A LOT to prove. Hence the excitement

I cant recall B- Hop gettin knocked out anywhere in the last 12 years or anytime for that fact ( Correct me if i am wrong) . I cant see him just getting punished this fight . Maybe i need to polish up on Joe Cal , but i am just not seeing it .

Joe won't KO Bernard. The most likely outcome is Bernard getting outboxed. He CAN be punished, Joe needs to use movement, speed, and set traps. Seriously, never underestimate Calzaghe, he is a smart man in the ring and he boxes with intelligence. Anyone with an ounce of boxing knowledge should easily be able to see he has skills.

Oh, one other thing. I'm not accusing you of doing this, but a lot of people argue against Calzaghe because they know very little about him. It would help if they try to look into his career properly before making assessments. He may not have the biggest, most famous American names on his resume, but the ways in which he has destroyed most of his opposition are impressive, plus it has made for some entertaining fights.

I would ask one thing of Hopkins fans/Calzaghe doubters: Is Joe not a worthy opponent for Hopkins, or is he really about to fight a "bum", and therefore doesn't deserve any credit if he wins? Trust me, if Bernard pulls this off, it'll be one of his biggest achievements and a lot of people will be making a very big deal about it. There is a reason Bernard needs a "dream team" of trainers -- he knows how much he needs it.
