I still want to see this fight, I am pretty sure Cotto will Ko Gomez, but I would count Gomez completely out yet.

And is Cotto fighting Mayorga on the 19th of July? Because thats what boxingrec says: Miguel Cotto BoxRec

      1st.

To try to get Cotto more exposure They make Cotto fight a bum..

When they were other better creditable marketable fighters were out there...
(Cotto could of Fought Margoya) if he wanted to get more exposure

      But he fights Gomez...????

What does Gomez do for Cotto's Marketability..??

You can see them having problems selling out this arena
      With a good undercard...

      2nd.

They didn’t even try to market this fight, no interviews on ESPN, Nothing...
They could at least have Gomez Slap Cotto to get some drama involve in this fight

      3rd.

They didn’t even put the fight in New York, where at least the fight would have seem like a huge event...and Put Cotto in a Hero Position when he wins.

      4th.

This fight is a LOSE LOSE situation...

      What if CottO loses..??

If Cotto Wins, It does nothing for his Career
If he loses, it kills his career....

This Fight was a Bad Move...

I STRONGLY agree with everything u said. I've been saying this since this fight was announced. A win over Gomez does absolutely NADA for Cotto's career or exposure. I still fail to realize how fighting Gomez is going to gain Cotto exposure! The only person gaining exposure out of this fight is Gomez.

ESPN is nothing but a bunch of front runners. They dont know **** about boxing. You act like Arum can make a phone call and have Cotto/Gomez appear on TV. One of them will probably be a guest on FNF though.

I live about an hour away from AC.

I don't have extra money to spend on boxing tickets though. Looks like I'll be watching it in HiDef from home.

I never even heard this fight be talked about at all on tv, or radio I live on the westcoast.

ITs BS they should be selling this fight like crazy especially since its on regular HBO not ppv.

the card is gonna be a barn burner.

Domain is it possible for you to not mention the UFC or make comparisons between MMA and boxing? Every thread I read by you somehow jabs boxing for not being like MMA regardless of intention. They have a separate forum for that ****. Knock it off, it's getting obnoxious.

Huh? You must not have seen the same fights I saw. He won the first fight, 3 rounds to 2 (and I had Manfredo winning three, so I thought he lost) and lost the second fight 5 rounds to 2! There was no whooping involved.

As for why this fight isn't selling, I think it's a combination of factors. It's a mismatch, it's in Atlantic City instead of NY, it hasn't been marketed enough, and the best fight on the card is the undercard.

**** ain't selling because its not the day of the P. Rican day parade. For all that Gomez is known because the Contender talk is being proven to be bull****. This is in no way saying that the fight should not be happening but maybe PBF is right Cotto is not well known and won't bring in the type of money he wants. Let me state again for the slow people I still think PBF should fight Cotto.
