i would not be surprised if this is true. a ton of dudes always try to get cred for being ******. to me it's a ****ing joke. ******, jail, all that bull**** means **** all in the ring, and life. anyone who feels the need to be associated with the hood, and hardness is weak. they need to grow the hell up, and stop acting like kids. it's typical nonsense, and bull****. being from the ****** (or anwhere else for that matter) don't make the man, he must do that on his own! to me a real man makes his way, creates his own life, and destiny that he earns on his own. no excuse, or anyone else to blame for his short comings. he can, and will only blame himself for his failures as well as triumps, because in the end no one else will answer for it but him. life is what YOU make it fellas.

Back to Bernard regardless of where he grew up prison can make you hard. I'm sure something had to be hard about him for people to keep off of him in there. And Bernard grew up many years ago. Neighborhoods change.

Germantown is one of the more peaceful and affluent neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Bill Cosby is from there as well, as was Sun Ra. White collar workers outnumber blue collar workers by about 9/2. The median income is over $40,000/ year.
Crime rates are some of the lowest in the city.
I didn't grow up in the roughest "hood" either, but even I grew up in a tougher Philly neighborhood than Hopkins did, with higher crime rates and lower median income. So I can't help but laugh when he refers to his tough background: he's a middle class kid! Sure he went to prison, but anyone can do that.
He's built a false image on being "street." But it's not him. Sorry if you thought he would be too "street" for Calzaghe or anyone else, but you have the wrong guy.

**** my grandma was mugged at the mall, does that mean she is tough now. Does it excuse her every ignorance and suggest that a euro*** could never beat her in a fight?
Facts are facts, he did not have a hard life, except for what hardships he brought upon himself. As a young adult he found a little trouble, as did many of us. That's not growing up hard though

Can you tell me where he lived in BK before he got big?

Even to assume that Germantown was ALWAYS a blue collar side of town. It's still up kayjay to provide a source saying that Bernard was molded there, grew up there all of his life, and never lived and grew up in the Raymond Rosen housing projects as claimed in all of his professional bios.

Thank you. There's always a fool trying to start rumors.

no disrespect to the threadstarter but.. it really doesnt matter where you live. if you get in with the wrong ppl, it can cost you your life..
neighborhoods change as well.. and the pen where he stayed at is rough as well.. i dunt know how bad it is compared to texas but its not a good prison..
if he was in prison he obviously commited a felony.. a more serious crime..
bhop was stabbed twice..
all in all.. i do think that JC will win.. but itll be an ugly win.. not anything stellar..
