IIRC, the only person losing his cool in that exchange was Hopkins after Calzaghe poked fun at him over the two defeats to Taylor.

        Hopkins the Politician.

        Seriously what the ****.
He's saying the as a black man, from what he's experienced, white people have had life easier. And from working so hard to get where hes at now, hes not going to let someone who made it through life with less obstacles than hes had or someone who has had an easier life beat him.

I'm not buying this Hopkins The Philosopher routine. Watching the video it's as plain as day that Calzaghe hits a raw nerve and Hopkins responds by hurling the first insult that comes into his head. There's no "deep" thinking at work here. He lost his cool - period.

I mean, if Hopkins is this Master at getting under people skin can someone tell me WHY he picked THAT comment to get under Calzaghe's?

Hopkins you are a middle class kid from a peaceful neighborhood. You don't come from the jungle. Stop acting like something you're not

Calzaghe hit a raw nerve when he mentioned Jermain Taylor. Hopkins never acted the same after that.

If Joe Calzaghe had said "I would never lose to a black boy." he would be disciplined.

For instance, here in the United Kingdom every single White sports commentator that has said something like that has been sacked and banned from commentating.

At the end of the day, what is a bit of abuse here and there? Abuse from the mouth can never hurt unless you allow yourself to become weak enough to let it.

Probably because he knew people would still be talking about it 4 months later.

100% right. Calzaghe's raw confidence disturbs Hopkins. In that famous video, Joe repeats 'No chance, you're not a legend' (something like that). Like a kid in a playground, Hopkins says the first thing tht comes to his head. Once he's said it, you get a sense he's thinking (Did I just ****in say that?) and so he emphasises it to the media, to try to get them to think its part of his plan.

It's certainly got publicity. But I'm at a loss to explain why it should bother Calzaghe.
