With the talent Mayweather holds (a gold mine in boxing) would he have had better numbers and viewership all throughout his career if he would have had a better personality ala Ray Leonard or Oscar De La Hoya.. Vladimir303 doesn't seem to think so.. do you agree?
If Mayweather had a more likable personality, would he be making better numbers?

Floyd is a fool with this.. He could be solidly popular with his smile and charisma. In fact, that's really the only thing people like despite the behavior. It's been keeping him alive in terms of popularity. "Money May" hurts his bottom line. -
i heard a story that arum brought oscar and sugar ray leonard to meet him, cause they wanted to make him the next boxing star in there mold he had a great smile an olympian, and he wanted no part of it,so oscar and ray talked to each other.Comment

Great you run away from the other thread and make a new one. But I'll give you the same examples I gave you before:
Why isn't Shane Mosley making Mayweather money?
Why isn't Vernon Forrest, a guy who financed a home for ******s helping them out.
Winky Wright? Is it debatable that he is a nice guy?
It's all about finding a shtick that works and selling it. Floyd knew that the fans didn't like him so he created the whole Money May persona and pushed it to sell the Delahoya fight more and it worked. Mike Tyson was a bad guy and it sold. SRL was a good guy and it sold.Comment

I heard of that too. Thing is, that's not Floyd. He is naturally a brash character and fans pick up on that and acting nice smiling isn't gonna work. So what he did is forget about that and just go overboard being the ****y annoying character that he is today.
And look at the message boards exploding with Mayweather related topics.
It worked.Comment

Olympian medalist + P4P #1 + great smile/good looks = mucho dinero through viewers.
Just remember, with your money, are you more likely to pay money to see something you like or pay money to see something in hopes that it does badly?Comment

He has a background of a Sugar Ray Leonard but a personality of a Hip Hop/Gangsta Rap influence. It just wasn't mean to be for him to be a smiling role model type. It works for some and it doesn't for others....just ask Mosley. He once was a top p4p unbeaten fighter who smiled alot.I do have to tell you... I think Floyd would make more $ if he was a good guy.

It's a different generation and all around he still isn't a bad guy. He will tell you himself that nobody ever talks about the good things he does like charity, giving out turkey's etc,.
Like Roy Jones, he is at the top of the heap right now and fans are reacting to it. He knows what's going on and he is responding with his bahavior lashing out at the boxing fans who don't like him.Comment
