As a fan of boxing .. it hurts a bit to say this.. But I think it's Time Floyd just went away.. and got on with whatever dreams of stardom he has.. I think he has outgrown Boxing.. I mean even some his most hardcore fans are starting to smell the FISH ><>

          2501,

You are getting the time lines mixed up homeboy. When Floyd fought Gatti, he was at 140 fighting under the Top Rank unbrella. A Margarito-Mayweather fight wasn't even discussed at that time. It was after Floyd defated Zab Judah and parted ways with Top Rank that Bob Arum came knocking with a 8million Margarito offer and at that point Floyd had no interest of doing any business with Arum as he was trying to do business with Golden Boy.

thanx, like ive said before, i havent really cared much for margarito. i mean, i like the way he fights, but i just cant get on the bandwagon for some reason. i havent even seen these videos were he is supposedly confronting Floyd. so i dont know in detail what the situation is with him.

You then claim, however, that nothing is wrong with fighting for the money, in a round about way. Claiming that he's just waiting on Cotto so that he's a bigger star. Does that help his legacy either?

                .
Yes it does if you forget about Cotto's star power and focus on his status as a fighter. Is Miguel Cotto considered a great fighter right now? Because if he isn't then it would be better to make him wait and let him become great so when you defeate him, you get the proper credit for beating not just a young very good fighter but a great fighter.

I seem to not have a problem with the first post. So I'm gonna assume, just for a moment that you agree with most parts of it. The problem then becomes if there are no names for Mayweather to beat at WW, who is Cotto supposed to beat in order to BECOME bigger. Wouldn't he NEED to fight Mayweather? Or is the number one contender just supposed to clean out the division for the champion, and finally get a shot? That's not how it GENERALLY works. It's happened. But a champion is supposed to actually be the one cleaning up. Taking on everyone who people think can beat him. It's impossible, but that's the point. You fight until you have proven once and for all that you're the best in that division. Mayweather has not. Cotto is ACTUALLY cleaning up what Mayweather has yet to even start doing.

That DOESN'T help Floyds legacy. What WOULD help him is if he fought the young, hungry fighters. Regardless of how much money they make him.

Furthermore, Floyd doesn't claim that he's waiting for him to be a great fighter, he waits on him to be a bigger star. He's a big enough star that the matchup could happen, and would make sense.

Floyd can't claim to be the biggest star. If he thinks he still needs a big name to draw. Time to prove all the **** he talks.

great post, 2501 threw out brusselles and michell like those are the only fighters floyd has faced in his career, dumb ass closet hater. hey 2501 come out the closet buddy it's ok, hating on floyd is pretty fashionable now

as for the cotto fight the haters can keep dreaming bob arum admitted that he still owes floyd money from the gatti and judah fights, why would floyd fight a top rank fighter at this time. the haters expect floyd to fight cotto while bob arum still owes him money from 2005 and 2006. I have seen it all
