tarvers talent at this stage of his game and hopkins being legendary.
both are myths with small hint of truth to it.

Cotto's power is extremely overrated, I don't think he hits that hard at 147.

I was tempted to pick Tarver, but Paulie was my choice. Other than fighting Cotto in the Garden, his drawing power has been nil. Otherwise he would have done a lot more than play in small houses on BAD and Showtime. Next he is on the undercard with Hatton in Manchester, which makes him accountable for maybe a extra 5-10 fans showing up. Paulie is a NY hype created star that the rest of American doesn't buy at all.

          Hopkins' legend.

Some people will buy into any old **** if they're told something enough times.

          "I am the greatest! ... I am the greatest! ... I am the ..."

some arent even myths, mosley is a smart fighter in the ring and calzaghe does have fast hands........but antonio tarver, i dont think many world champs could be more mediocre than him, hes had a few good fights but most of the time he just turns in a performance that is just completely crap

there should be another option , that muhammad ali is the greatest of all time, so overhyped, he is only so famous because of his outrageous political statements etc

Mosley is a smart fighter but he's considered among the most 'ring intelligent' fighters in the sport. He's ranked #1 by some people. That's a high ranking.

Calzaghe does have fast hands but how fast are they, really? Calzaghe chain punches. It is his combination punching that gives off the appearance of fast hands - but his individual shots are not fast, whatsoever. Optical illusion. Literally.

or maybe that he won the heavy weight crown twice VIA KO and both times he was a big underdog...

the second time was after a THREE year lay off , becuase he was FORCED to give up his title and quit fighting...

and that he also avenged his loss to Joe Frazier ..

The theme of this poll was concerning active boxers, not those who haven't fought since the 1970's.
