Mundine has a title. Miranda does not. That makes Mundine a better fight at this point. Some guys are big enough to transcend the alphabets, people like Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, Oscar De La Hoya, Joe Calzaghe, Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton have big enough names to be able to fight whomever without a title. Kessler and Miranda are not big enough names to not benefit from a title fight.

I agree with the thread starter, Mundine is a more dangerous opponent for Kessler than the hard punching but less skilled Miranda.

Does fighting Anthony Mundine again instead of Edison Miranda make Sense? No. Does that mean that Kessler is scared? No. The man fought Joe Calzaghe and wanted more when finished, he isn't scared of Miranda. Mundine is a better all around fighter than Miranda is and makes a tougher fight for Kessler (even though he has been conquered by Mikkel). Mundine likes to hype himself but he isn't as overhyped as Miranda is. I can't say I would give Mundine an edge over Miranda due to him being sparked by the power-punching Sven Ottke. But as a complete fighter Mundine is a level or two (because of handspeed) better than Miranda. It doesn't make complete sense that Kessler is fighting Mundine instead of Miranda. There was incredible hyp already about the possible matchup between the two and it would've been better for boxing. But then again I don't know the finanacial side either, and that is usually the culprit.
