doesnt pound for pound have more to do with 'who would be the best if they were all the same size' rather than 'who we like the most and has the most exciting fights'

has everyone forgot already that hatton was regarded to be top 10 p4p when floyd dominated and knocked him out in his last fight?

and you think pac should leap frog him for beating JMM in a very close fight that most people think he lost?

    put aside personal bias

I don't think it's what it takes to get Mayweather off, it's what it take to get Pacquaio or Calzaghe up. If Pac-man & Calzaghe can fight elite tier fighters in there respective weight classes then either can claim the spot due to Mayweather inactivity.
for Pac-man it would most likely take a win over David Diaz & either Casa or Cambell.
for Calzaghe he has to get past Hopkins and perhaps fight the winner of Tarver-Woods or the winner of Dawson-Johnson.

i just cannot agree with you. if he is not fighting the best how is he proving he is still the best?? as fighters get olders there skills get worse. you have to fight the best to prove your the best and this man just does not want to fight a real challenge.

plain and basic common sense really.

Joe Calzaghe vs Bhop ---> winner takes #1 spot without question in my eyes. Floyds little escapades might be lucrative but it does nothing for his legacy in the sport of

the frst sentence to start off the thread says it all. it doesnt take anymore than that. floyd is currently "retired" and in the wwe, not boxing

if he doesn't step up by the end of 2009, then he should be removed.. he needs to fight the top competition

This means a lot to me, specially coming from the man who engraved such a powerful phrase in the boxingscene.com

I would love Calzaghe vs Dawson it would be a awesome match, Dawson is one of the only fighters that would have a very good chance of beating him.

Pacquiao is easily the most exciting fighter the past 5 years, this is not even close I.M.O. He favors his left too much, but it has been enough to beat Barrera, Marquez, Morales and other top Latino fighters out there. Americans are not even a threat around his division, unless you count Nate Campbell. It is debatable whether Mayweather is the best skilled, the past 6 years I always liked Casamajor who impressed me back in 1992 when he won the gold medal (he reminded me of Pernell Whitaker). But Oscar took all the glory and hype and now we get Mayweather vs. Oscar 2. I also think Calazge is a skillful guy and that he might shock alot of people when he fights Hopkins. As for the top P4p list. I do not agree with it, this is the first time during my lifetime that the top P4P fighter is also one of the top most defense fighter and the top most boring fighter all at once. Watch the tapes again, Whitaker was a great defense master but was never boring, he fight vs. Oscar was pretty exciting, and he dropped Hoya by the way.
