The first fight I had ever seen(or at least cared about) was Jason Gavern vs Travis Walker. This really strikes me as strange, cause these were basically two nobodies, but for some reason their styles clashed well and it interested me.
It was on a local channel, when I was just flippin through. but I thought it was fantastic.

From there, I watched more...and more...and now, Im obsessed. once you get started watching boxing, its like a snowball effect really. which is why its a shame that its not available on local channels, cause if people had a ton of opportunities to watch boxing instead of having to go completely out of their way for it, they probebly would be hooked too haha.

Anyone else have boxing deflowering horror stories?
I used to watch Tuesday Night Fights on USA network. Some of there fights were really borring. But, you always learned something from watching some of the most borring matchs. And when i first started watching boxing it was to study it as i was in boxing at the time. When the boxing commentators tell you that you're a real boxing fan if you're still watching the boxing matchs thats a good indicator its a borring match. But again i was a firme beliver you can always learn from every boxing match, i might have heard this saying from Sean O'Grady i don't recall.

The Hopkins v. Jones fight ****** ballls. I've tried watching it but there just way to tentative. Both failed to make it an exciting fight.

The first round included 5 landed jabs and that was it if I remember correctly.

Thank god I gave it another shot and watched Jones vs. Toney.

the fight made me fall asleep, but it should be noted that neither man was in their prime. they were both up and coming young fighters learning the trade. it was the first big fight for both of them and they didnt seem to be too eager to get it on because of respect. hopkins was still a Philly ****er at that time, and jones clearly outclassed him in a very snoozing performance. not the most horrible fight but pretty damn close to it.

i think calzaghe has alot of fans because hes a fighter at heart and comes to fight hes not afraid to tear it up which is also one of the things that make it him a fantastic champion. his speeda and iron chin mean that hes not afraid of gettin into the brawls when he needs to.

also hes one of the few fighters who lets his hands go so many fighters like mayweather are more conservative and concerned with defence - calzaghe is more concerned with offence.

as for b-hop im just the same as you i think in terms of fundamentals and technique hes great, i like to wacth his footwork more than anyone else and hes probably the best to emulate.
