In one of the pressers (videos on youtube somewhere, I'm not digging it out) Calzaghe made a comment about losing 2 stone for each fight over the past 10 years+, and it would nice not to have to do that this time round. Hopkins turned round and said he respects him for doing it because he did it himself for 10 years+. Calzaghe is a good fighter... but... for whatever reason it seems he hasn't really made the big fights happen. This fight? Too late. I wish it happened five years ago... I wish he fought Jones... I wish he fought Johnson... I wish he fought Wright... even, Ottke. He never really left the UK... he never left 168. Sometimes if you want to make the big fights you have to do those things. He never did. At this point, blah... Hopkins is 43. Whatever. He has had a good career, but it could have been much better.

Maybe he'll fight Taylor or Pavlik next year... but, by then, I hope it's not too late.
