Who punches faster, Calzaghe or Taylor?

I have to disagree with this. Taylor hasn't knocked anyone out in a world title fight. Ever. He hurt Pavlik and I'm not saying he can't punch at all, but it's not like he throws non-stop bombs. Calzaghe does sometimes load up on his punches, and when he does so he still remains fast. The 7th round against Lacy is a good example of this, as are his earlier fights, when he threw more power shots than he does now.
I like Jermaine Taylor, but I think personally that Calzaghe is the quicker puncher. I didn't see the fight with Spinks(and probably never will considering how bad it apparently was) but unless he showed greater speed in that fight than in his others, I have to go with JC.
Nah, of course not. Actually that's not a bad question, a lot of people around here seem to like commenting on fighters they haven't seen much of, and Calzaghe seems to be the one such people love to discuss.
Yeah, the way he was slapping Lacy all over the ring, busting up his face, knocking him down, knocking him back into the corner was some brilliant slapping.Comment

Calzaghe is the faster guy IMO, even before his hand trouble began he used to throw lightening fast arm punches to un balance his opponents and score points before setting down on his shots.
That doesn't mean he cant punch hard becuase he can, he just chooses not to, to protect his hands.
Neither fighter has one punch KO power IMO but Calzaghe has had more wins by stoppage than Taylor has had fights.Last edited by MickyHatton; 03-25-2008, 10:19 AM.Comment

In which case you are still wrong, Calzaghe has immeasurably more power than Taylor. Joey C would have hospitalized Pavlik in that infamous 2nd round.
It might be time to start finding JC videos to finally end this slap hype.Comment
