They were always calling Mayweather to fight him when they were both at 135... clearly they overestimated what kind of success he was going to find when matched up with other elites.
I'll defend Maywather on that one, there is a few fighters that did turn down a Mayweather fight to find bigger ritchs after a win, then seek a match with Mayweather, they ****ed up. It happens. I've seen boxers being offered a lot of money, then they hold out to fight someone else for less so if they win that match there purse would be bigger when challenging the top fighter again. Sometimes it backfires.

Yeah, from what I hear, all that **** at 135 had to do with money (go ****ing figure with Mayweather). I was just saying that I doubt it would be one of those victories that detractors would give him a ton of credit for if he had beaten a prime Lazcano, since he kind of never turned out to be what people thought he was going to be.

Something like how people look at the Zab Judah win now.

I think after the Lejia v. Lazcano fight im sure the hype had to be buried unless most didnt' catch the Showtime fight. Leija was robbed against Lazcano.

So your saying a card like

Hatton vs Lazcano - Hatton is one of the most known boxers in the world right now comming off his Mega fight with Floyd.

            Paul Malignaggi on the undercard.

infront of a crowd of over 50k+ in a soccer stadioum live from England isn't a superfight?

Ofcourse it will not be Delahoya vs Floyd or Hopkins vs Calzaghe but it will be live on a basic cable and a "Superfight" when you compare the event to the other fights we get on basic cable.

Yeah this is HUGE for a basic cable fight. Hatton is still a P4P fighter, that would be enough in itself. Also add Malignaggi, thats the biggest fight card ive ever seen on free TV.

Throw Tye Fields in there it could be a PPV

HBO offered Hatton 1 million dollars to have the Lazcano fight, but only if it was fought in prime time in America. Ricky turned them down since this is a fight for his British fans and he wants it to be fought at a normal time.

I think HBO makes too much of "prime time" boxing event - a lot of people, including myself, like watching a fight on Saturday afternoon, and then going out on Saturday night! They can always do a prime time replay anyway, like they did with Klitschko vs. Brewster II.

They shouldn't have British fights at 2 am for the sake of HBO, that's not respecting the people over there.
