Crazy to see Versus get this fight. Since they have Tye Fields as their main event sometimes it seems like a big step up. I actually don't mind the announcers Nick Charles is good, he does ShoBox as well.

I really like the announcers on Versus.. they don't let network pressures slant their opinions on the ****tiness of fights, and they've called Tye Fields on it several times. They seem to generally like eachother, too.. Kinda reminds me of the Lamps/Steward/Foreman combo from back in the day. Good chemistry..

its a step in the right direction...

taking fights away from HBO and SHO (where normally these names would fight) and bringing them to cable TV...

Next we need to see ABC and NBC get some fights...

        could be huge...

then HBO and SHO might not have so many PPV's anymore if the names start coming to free channels (well cable isnt free but doesnt cost extra like HBO and SHO).

        Nick Charles is decent...

i like hearing Lamply, Merchant, Steward and Tessitore and Atlas...

manly because lamply does some great fight calling and merchant chimes in with funny comments...

and i like tessitore for his reactions to big moments...when theres excitement going on he turns almost from a commentator to a fan.

and atlas always has good analysis of stategy's of fighters and picks up on little things that can be done to win the fight...very insightful...

I actually like the posters, also this means more free fights. IF this fight is an early stoppage im sure they will show undercard fights, hbo would not do that

Dude, Lampley ****in HATED Foreman. u could feel that hate on the air man, which fights were u listening to? lol. Merchant hated him to.

I remember one of the interviews this website did with lampley (its on youtube i think, it was after Trinidad-Mayorga) they asked Lampley if he missed working with George and Lampley immediately snaps back witha resounding "no"

            lol

Who cares where they air it as long as it's good. Hatton should win, but Lazcano ain't gonna lay down for him and I think he'll make it tough.

thats one thing i like about FNF/WNF and Versus...they show undercard fights in the main event ends early...

with hbo and Sho they dont care...

you could order a 3 hour ppv and if every fight is a first round knockout they really just dont care...

so you spend $50 on a ppv and get a total of like 5 rounds of boxing...

cotto v. mosley was like that...MANY of the undercards were quick knockouts...so it was over like an hour and half earlier than it should have been...

you would think HBO and SHO would do that since you are paying to see those fights...ESPN and Versus you arent paying and would be more justified if they didnt show extra fights...you should get your money's worth with paying for fights but i guess HBO and SHO dont do it that way...

Yup, Jose Aguirre's interview.. I actually asked Aguirre about that..

IDK if Merchant disliked George, but yeah... During Trinidad-Vargas they had some disagreements, like about Vargas being Mexican-American or just plain American. Also, George had an argument with both guys during the 12th round of Jones-Ruiz about them dissing Ruiz..

However, I still think when they were on board, it was great to listen, and always very insightful. They chimed in at the right times.. I just think the egos got in the way in the end.

Im really glad Versus is now looking to work with other promoters, Bob Arum has been ****ing them over and the fans with the bull**** matchups and Tye Fields bum of the month club.

Considering Versus is paying Arum about 175-225k site fee which is twice the money Showtime pays for showbox and almost 10 times the money ESPN pays promoters for Friday Night Fights.

I was about to say that Versus actually does spend a lot of money for their fights. It's just that you wouldn't know it by watching them. Arum has done a piss poor job of matchmaking for them and hopefully Versus will rattle his cage or dump him altogether.
