Cotto is a genuis body puncher. He understands better than anyone in decades the dividends that can be reaped by concentrating on the torso.

But he is NOT an especially hard puncher, whatsoever. For as strong as he is he's a shockingly average hitter.

I'd like for someone to explain to me how he is a P4P hard puncher. I'm open to being convinced and fully objective. Help me out..

Here's a recent breakdown from myself..

Cotto isn't just hitting his opponents in the abs, sides, and traditional target areas.. As I've said on numerous occasions he's striking all areas of the body; hips, spine, shoulders - joint areas, neck, back.. And even occasionally lower if he's really feeling frisky.. The only thing Cotto doesn't hit when he's in Body Destroyer mode are the soles of his opponents feet..

Any acupuncturist or incarcerated member of the Mexican mafia can tell you there are several dozen "kill points" or "sick points" on the human body. Points of vulnerability that can cause all sorts of reactions including nausea, motion sickness, blurred vision, loss of balance, diarrhea, loss of muscle coordination, numbness/tingling, sudden weakness.. You hit a guy in the right places enough times and you can turn him into a full blown AIDS patient in a matter of minutes.

He's a strong, penetrating puncher no doubt - but where he's hitting his opposition has more to do with the bended knees, and scrunched up faces, than the mechanics of his delivery.

I don't think he is a great puncher but he definitely isn't an average one.

Cotto dosen't really have one punch KO power, he wears down his opponents and stops them from the accumulation of punches...He is the best body puncher in the sport IMO.

I fully agree with that statement. ^ I said shockingly average for how strong he is. He's one of the strongest guys in the sport P4P. Hands down. But as we all know; strength has nothing to do with pop.

I agree with this statement as well. ^

            He's clearly not a P4P puncher, however.

Lately he hasn't been but I remeber his fights with Sosa and that Brazilian guy. At 140 he had one punch ko power. At 147 I am not so sure. But he's been developing that swarming, stalking style even when he used to reside at 140 I guess with the idea that his one punch ko power won't carry to the heavier divisions. For a moment, I actually disliked Cotto because I really loved his boxing ability and then all of a sudden he became a pressure, in your-face fighter. I though this was going to be his downfall but he proved me wrong and I am as big of fan of his now as I was before.

I believe Cotto in terms of one punch power ranks behind Cintron, Margarito, Berto, Judah, Mosley. Still I wouldn't favor any of these guys to beat him.

Your list was quite good.. I liked alot of guys on it.

Trinidad is still a better puncher than Cotto.. We can start there..

There are a ****load of guys I would put in front of Cotto. Guys that can clearly knock people the **** out.
