It was a BAD STOPPAGE!! and here's why.....

So let's wait til we hear from Andy before saying if he agrees with it or not.it sure as hell didn't look like he was complaining and didn't throw a fit.. If he disagreed with the decision he would have at least said something. Instead he walked back to his corner with his face full of defeat.Comment

Well Pavlik showed by knocking Taylor out that he would have bounced back from that defeat and made his way back to the top
Lee didnt get that oppurtunity during the fight, so we will have to find out the long way if he deserves to be at a higher levelComment

Thats a great point on to why that fight should be let go a bit longer then a main event on ESPN2 between two young fighters not fighting for a title.Comment

A standing 8 count would have been warranted, but I am not sure if it was in effect.Granted Lee was hurt in that round but he was winning the fight. Lee was in no way incoherent. He was still throwing meaningful punches.
Most people's argument for it being a good stoppage is that he probably was going to get knocked, so why not let him get knocked.
A knockdown or a standing 8 count may have been what Lee needed. By peoples logic on here JM Marquez should have been stopped vs Pac Man.
Vera was being pummeled in the first ref allowed it to continue he took his knockdown and you saw how that worked for him.
If a ref stopped a fight every time a fighter was hurt or looked like he may go down this forum would be up in arms every weekend.
However, the rest of your argument was incoherent, and illogical.
The criteria for determining whether or not a fight should be stopped is whether or not a fighter can defend himself. It is not dependent on a fighter continuing to punch. Nearly everyone has seen highlights of fighters who get knocked out COLD and continue to throw punches while they are flat on their back.
Simply put, Andy Lee displayed over the course of the preceding 30 seconds, an inability to defend himself.
Like it or not, taking punishment is taking punishment. It is not a different kind of punishment if you are punching back. It is the same punishment as if you had your hands down at your waist, slumped against the ropes and getting a beating.
Andy Lee had not blocked slipped or even attempted to slip a punch in the preceding 60 seconds. He was getting caught with CLEAN FLUSH shots on his chin. He was VERY badly hurt.
Allowing him to take more punishment would have been irresponsible. He was in a situation where he needed help. The ref did his job, and earned his pay.
His job is to make the critical decisions that a fighter simply cannot be expected to make on his own. Andy Lee had taken enough punishment. The ref made the right call.Comment

Never put a comma before the word "and".
Apart from that your attempt at high level English was admirable if slightly lacking in personification.Comment

no, that's incorrect. a comma can be used to join 2 phrases that if seperate could stand alone as complete sentences on their own. the rule is longer, and has more to it, but it's true!

Don't worry, I'm sure most people wont pay any attention to your failed ad hominem attack.
Why don't you try responding with a well thought out reply as to why I am wrong.
Oh yeah, It cannot be done; I am right. (OH NOES! WAS THAT A PROPERLY USED SEMI-COLON? OH YEAH, I BROUGHT IT!)Comment
