Why do people ***** about Cotto's PPV numbers?

He started his career in 2001.. Seven years into Mayweather's career he hadn't even had a PPV fight yet and was fighting on HBO against Castillo, Victorian Sosa and Phillip N'duo. Seven years into Cotto's career he already has a large following and though his PPV numbers haven't been spectacular.. He's already been on PPV! Mayweather has a 6 year career advantage on Cotto of course he is gonna have better recognition. I'm willing to bet that within 6 years Cotto will be better recognized then Mayweather is right now at this point.

PPV number get brought up because some people try to argue that Mayweather-Cotto would be bigger than a DelaHoya rematch

Unless Cotto breaks through to the mainstream media like Floyd is doing, I highly, highly doubt that.

Floyd Mayweather is now known to:

Anyone who has any remote interest in boxing.
                All wrestling fans.
Anyone who is a Oscar De La Hoya fan.
Everyone who watched the Dancing with the Stars show (the highest rated program on TV)
                Anyone who likes 50 cent.

Floyd Mayweather is reaching out beyond boxing. He is becoming a household name in the U.S.
