Right now i think Floyd is the best welterweight, however if/when Cotto beats Gomez, Mayorga and the winner of Cintron/Mararito i would give him the number 1 spot. Unfortunatly though, when Cotto gets all those wins Floyd will fight him, beat his ass and take all the titles, reclaiming his throne.

Right now on paper Mayweather is the best WW. IMO he would beat all the top WW's right now, but in boxing on paper doesn't matter. To really know who's the best then PBF has to fight them. In comes down to that plain and simpley (or in some poster's case it's "plain and basic common sense"), Mayweather needs to fight top WW's, specifically Cotto, or for the rest of his career the critics will have that on him and use against him.

Another thing, all these discussions of "who is better Floyd or Cotto" really make no sense until these two guys get in the ring and **** it out. Yes, Floyd is the more "complete" athlete, he's got speed, amazing reflexes and a strong and solid boxing foundation. Cotto on the other hand IMO is the better "fighter", he's got power, aggression, will, heart, and has improved his boxing skills throughout his last fights. So for anyone to say "oh Floyd will murder Cotto" or "Cotto will punish Floyd" are both full of ****, we will never know the outcome of this fight if it never happens. Case closed.
