YouTube Puts a Dent in PPV Revenue

Instead of attacking Youtube, how about they start with the promotors stealing from the fighters in the first place? Like Don King stealing from tyson, or Arum from Floyd, and god knows what else goes behind the scenes in boxing. Or stop robbing fighters of upset wins that hurt their careers, like when Callazo beat Hatton, that could've set him up for better pay days with Hatton as a win on his resume and with his tittle in tact, or how about when that fighter got robed against Casamayor on the Cotto,Mosley under card. All boxing wants is to steal from the fans and make money with lousy under cards, when a big major fight is on Pay per view, the most exiting under cards is when they show the main event fighters entering the arena, or when the ref is giving them instructions. When a casual fan ask me when the fight starts, I always say around 11:30 pm eastern time. And like people already stated, no free tv to hype things up, no knowledge of prospects coming up. So boxing is its worst own enemy, they lucky they still have hardcore fans alive from the 50's 60's 70's 80's alive who passed their knowledge to their kids, once they pass, boxing will be dead around 2050 when the only fans alive is the casual with no knowledge passing anything down to the next generation, that will hurt the sport and probably kill it. Exposer is the money maker.Comment

Did they want us to feel bad for not taking $50 out of our middle class salary just to help add to their millions?? I paid for the Pacqiao-Marquez fight and would pay again, I would have paid for the Vasquez-Marquez fights, but im glad i found out about them showing the fights on youtube cuz i will not pay for Mayweather-De La Hoya or Paquiao-David Diaz. Esspecialy Pac-Diaz.Comment

100% agree about the De La Hoya and Mayweather helping to screwing it up, I got alot of friends that never order boxing PPV's but they did for that fight, now every time I order a fight they dont even want to come over and watch it for free because they think all boxing matches are gonna suck as bad as that one.Please...did youtube affect the 1 million+ buys of Oscar-Floyd? That awful boring fight did more to damage boxing ppv than anything the internet could ever do. When the entire country's fan and nonfanbase's eyes were on boxing, the fight stank up the joint...if only it was Pac-Marquez that the millions of people had watched, then the ppv buys would remain solid as casual people would have been reminded of how great boxing can be.
On a side note, there is nothing more disgusting than athletes making countless millions and still complaining about not making enough money due to "the internet" or "youtube".Comment

Well hopefully the next 'big fight' will get a million youtube hits and hbo will start considering slashing their prices and putting on a half decent undercard for EVERY pay per view event, not that i give a ****, i live in the uk, i care more that sky sports follow suit, which they wont. . . what was my point again?Comment
