If someone told me that I couldnt see the fight for a month I would still not pay for the PPV.

When PPVs are 30$ Ill consider it.

And its not even about splitting the PPV with your boys.

Im not exactly the type to say "ok ya'll owe me 10$"...besides what is that gonna do.......In the end of the month Ill have an extra 50$ to that 110$ cable bill...

And when people just give me 40$ in cash Ill just blow it......cause its cash lol...

people who would lay out $50 for the fight would always watch it live.

Those watching it on youtube, knowing the fight result would never pay for it in the first place. It's like.. what the hell, I'll watch it...

Here's an idea: why not lower the damn price of these PPV events, or at least put on a good card with a bunch of names the casual fan has even heard of and make it worth $50.
Because then you have to pay all those names on the card... and split up the money even more, and they wouldnt make as much money doing that...

You could also argue that, with better names on the card, more people will buy it... but the casual fan doesnt so much buy the fight for the undercard, but more for the main event, as do we all.... so they just have the real good main event, and decent undercards... less money to put out.

Please...did youtube affect the 1 million+ buys of Oscar-Floyd? That awful boring fight did more to damage boxing ppv than anything the internet could ever do. When the entire country's fan and nonfanbase's eyes were on boxing, the fight stank up the joint...if only it was Pac-Marquez that the millions of people had watched, then the ppv buys would remain solid as casual people would have been reminded of how great boxing can be.

On a side note, there is nothing more disgusting than athletes making countless millions and still complaining about not making enough money due to "the internet" or "youtube".

I dont mind pay per views if i think they are worthy. When big names are on pay per view i will order to support the boxers and boxing, but at the same time i get to see great boxing. But then there are times when J.Chavez-Ivan Robinson are on ppv.

After the show was over, there was no next-day PPV option to watch this fight. So how did youtube cut into any profits? It's not like people chose youtube over paying 50 bucks for the replay. It's not like a wrestling or UFC PPV that plays the entire month for the same price as the original showing. Hell, HBO is replaying it Saturday for free as well, and anyone who has that channel knows that big-time PPVs replay the next week for free. Why didn't the article come down on HBO? Isn't it also possible that because the fight was so close - and the results were posted online - that people who otherwise wouldn't have been interested - tuned into youtube because of the hype posted on the forums after the fight? So why isn't boxingscene criticized the same as youtube? Very misleading content in this article.

                yes. agree.
my case is that i live in the hills, deep in so.humboldt co no cable tv. i get dsl so the live(or nearly live) streaming is a dream.
bet i will look back at this in a couple years and say "those were the days".

and nothings been mentioned about the news groups, whatever those are.
my brother copys all ppv for me by going to news groups and recording the fights and undercards a few hours later. i get them all. and guys on news groups dont have a problem hiding out like on youtube. they can't be tracked.itsa neet.
