Winky Wright's Trainer Calls For Pavlik Bout
Collapse

This actually turned out to be a very good thread with some respectable points of view from both sides. Wright pummeled an outclassed and outweighed Ike Quartey, but Bazooka is a light middleweight maybe even welterweight contender. How about Randy Griffin, that is a good fight for Wright and Griffin drew with Sturm in Germany, so that says something about the quality of Griffin and the winner would have a great claim at a shot at the middleweight chapion after the fact. I like Wright to fight Pavlik and for it to happen this year, but Wright has yet to earn a victory over a middleweight (not at middleweight, but over one).Comment

Winky gets stopped late in this one fellas. Winky was great in his day no doubt. However the Winky of 2008 would be fighting a very large middleweight with KO power in both hands.Winky's guard would be broken and he would get stopped by the naturally bigger (much bigger) man. Pavlik has loads of skill, I think because of his style of fighting it is easy to lose sight of just how skilled he is.Comment

Winky needs to go out and get a solid win against a decent fighter first. He is coming off a Draw, then a Loss and then a long layoff.
Why he is expecting a free ride I have no idea. He is talented as hell, so why is he being so damn lazy? Sometimes you have to make the fight happen and spark interest.
He is good enough to give Pavlik fits if he is as good as he once was, so go out, do it and show us you are ready.Comment

Winky vs Sturm
Oh come on, Winky Wright vs Pavlik, what has Wright done for us lately. He leave's his hand's up and throw 10-15 punches a round. He's a boring fighter and demands too much money. I wouldn't be interested in a Pavlik-Wright fight. I imagine unless Pavlik KO'd Wright that the decision would go to Wright. It's somewhwhat like a basketball player who can't dribble calling out a player can create for himself. Wright doesn't bring anything to a fight he has to rely on the other. I'd be more curious to watch a Wright Sturm fight. Both of these guys fight similiarly and cowardly. Talk about the world's most boring fight. This is precisily the only type of fight that Wright deserves.Comment

10-15 punches a round? yet he had 1000+ punches in the quartey fight, 600+ in the hopkins fight even though he was fat and slow
and what is all this talk about "winky needs a win"? Did hopkins need a win when he lost twice to Taylor then fought tarver? winkys considered by most to be the top contender, and this is the fight most people want to see, this is all that matters. some of you sound scared of pavlik riskin his O
this is a mutually beneficial fight for both fighters and the fans as well. everyone winsComment
