Holding the ropes to prevent yourself from going down from a punch is a knockdown any day of the week...that's why some boxers seem to hit other boxers when they are down, because in boxing it seems that favored fighter is never down until they are "DOWN"...
Is holding a rope consider a knockdown?

It was within the referee's right to rule the second KD an official KD, but he didn't. Though in the end, it's up to the judges whether they score it as a KD or not.Comment

I think it should be no, but only for the top rope. If the fighter makes a conscious effort to keep himself up, it should not be a nockdown. If the knee, glove, or elbow touches the floor its a knockdown anyway so I think if you hold on to the top rope you must know whats going on so its not really a real knockdown anyway just a "flash"Comment

depnds on the way you touch the rope imo....if you pull yourself up with it, then its a knockdown, if you just tap it because you're close to them and cant move your feet properly to regain balance and have to barely touch it, i dont consider it a knockdown....Comment

Like most have been saying if the ropes prevent you from going down it "should" be ruled a knockdown. And for the record in the 3rd round of the Pac/JMM fight, JMM was held up by the ropes from a punch. Even Emmanuel Stewart said the ropes held him up.Comment

I agree.This is what I'm saying.THEY SHOULD SCORE THE 3RD ROUND 10-7 NOT 10-8.Comment
