How will Floyd be remembered in boxing?

The Greeks created the Olympics so every man can test his ability against his adversary or competitor. Sports is about becoming the best through facing the best competition. Athletes who have faced and beaten the best achieve a status of immortality within their sports circles. Fighters like Ali, SRR, SRL, Duran, Hearns, Hagler, etc. have become living legends in boxing by fighting the best and defeating the best. Where does Floyd rank in that regard? He has not fought the best fighters since leaving the 135 division.

Ugh... it probably depends on whether he fights Cotto or other great fighters???

Way too many open ends on that question to be able to even give an educated guess IMO.

atleast top 10 if he stay undefeated, but id like to see him fight cotto n just destroy him to shut these *****z up...itd be like rocky 1, the slow bruiser, rocky (cotto) vs the faster, as strong, more agile creed (pbf) who just pick him apart

I would like to see the man just ****ing man up and take those fights with Cotto with the winner of Cintron Margarito its not like he wouldnt make money, weather or not he will win is up to the two in the ring, I mean damn if he struggled with DLH I am sure these younger guys will give him some trouble as well.

He fought at 140 and he fought 3 times there beating Corley, Brusseles and Gatti. He fought 4 times at 147 and beat Sharmba, Zab, Baldomir and Hatton. He fought 1 time at 154 and he beat DLH.

Floyd will go down as one of the greatest fighters of all time and he knows that simply because history remembers and awards those who set precedence and achieve things you can put a moniker on. De La Hoya will be remembered as a great fighter but pure fans know its because he beat old names and lost his best fights, well Floyd has won 6 titles in five weight classes all while staying undefeated, those are the things you just cant deny. As people get older and younger fans come on board, they wont know all the things that were going on during the time fighters fought or didnt fight others, all they will see are famous names on that persons record that they beat, Hopkins understands this and that is why he is getting NAMES on his resume, Floyd understands this too. Thats why its silly when people make all time great lists, unless youre at least 60-70 years old, you dont know the things that were going on when those fighters fought.

As a terrific boxer whose career and opposition could have been even better.

Mayweather is far from the first guy who could have faced better opposition and been a little less money-oriented, but since it's nowadays people obviously know his career better than a lot of fighters in the past.
