I don't remember that happening. He was asked about Cotto and he said that he aint trying to fight no welterweights and that he has done what he wanted to accomplish and it was time to take a break and be a promoter or something of that nature.

Of course his previous Pre-Hatton comments regarding a Oscar rematch still count so technically you're right. But ultimately it's Oscar's choice and he made Floyd an offer for a rematch May3rd, 2008 but Floyd turned it down unless it was in September and Oscar agreed.

Awaits the winner? He could have fought either of those guys before they decided to fight one another, same can be said about Floyd's fights, that they are stay busy fights till bigger fights. So many other top welters out there to stay busy with. Call it what it is, its a way to keep your title in a low risk fight and make money.

I explain it pretty thoroughly here in this thread at the same time exposing the hypocrisy of some of this site's most incredibly fanatical fans.

as long as it is a set up for a bigger fight. now man, im beginning to tolerate you a little more so i hope you dont ruin it by ignoring what im about to type.

Cotto and Margarito are both Top Rank fighters. The plan is for Cotto and Margo to meet in a later in the year. THAT is why Arum is having Margo rematch Cintron and Cotto fight Gomez on the same night, on the same card. Both Margo and Cotto are supposed to win their fights so that THEY can meet up. Regardless of whether Cotto fights gomez or not, he will STILL be facing a serious threat in Margarito or Cintron. Gomez will just be a sparring partner for Cotto so I find it incredibly remarkable how people are tripping (mostly floyd fans) that Cotto is fighting Gomez as if thats the only fight he will have this year. Gomez is a tune up for Margarito. Gomez will most likely fight 3 times this year. So how is it a disgrace that one of those times will be against Gomez? How many fights does YOUR favorite fighter have each year?

Anyway, If Floyd wanted to fight Gomez before taking on Cotto/Cintron/Margarito/Williams/Mosley, WHOEVER who is gonna fight after DLH, that would be more than fine with me because I know he will be having serious fight regardless.

No one did. People only started having a problem with the fight being made after Floyd won.

The same old story can be said for Ricky Hatton.
