We have a member here who's literally on the verge of becoming a pro.

A damn good one too. He's already been on TV and all that ****..

If he's willing, he might tell you guys about it at some point.

I for one find it extremely exciting.

Only if I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was good enough to win a title.

If I had tons of money then I'd hire someone like Manny Steward and have him train me for a few months, and then turn pro and fight a few bums. I'd get Frank Warren as my manager/promoter, that way I know I'd be able to build up a good record without figting a single decent fighter. Then I'd challenge for a British title, lose, and retire.

But I would never turn pro unless I felt that I had a chance of achieving something worthwhile. These guys who train hard and get paid very little to go in there on a regular basis and risk their health getting beat up by upcoming prospects...I respect them, but I'd never want to live a life like that.

Those guys are the most intriguing me thinks. Many of the journeymen are actually talented fighters who just didn't have the mental edge, the luck, the passion etc.

I feel some people are content with knowing that they COULD have done well if only...
You know, talented people are not rare. It's rare to get a talent to work hard enough to make that talent count for something.

Winning is not always the only thing for some people, I'm afraid.

Going pro is pretty simple in boxing. there is a million professional fighters out there. of course all with different degrees of talent. It will benefit it you to go have an amature career as that will get your name out there. Even just reaching the golden gloves is pretty big accomplishment yet alone winning it. the amatures give you the experience you need to go pro but its not a requirement. All you need to do to go pro is get some trainers, good managment and pay all the fees included in going pro to get your license.

i would i sparred and trained for awhile and getting punched in the face isnt all that bad once you get used to it.

the main reason i would go pro is because at least initially i could probably find some bums who were much more beatable than the fighters i would face competing in a competitive amateur tournament.
