thats because according to many MMA fans and analysts, Wrestling fans are also MMA fans.

Thats a completely false statement. Yes there is a large portion of MMA fans that used to watch wrestling, yes there are current wrestling fans that watch MMA. But you can't make a statement like "Wrestling fans are also MMA fans" Thats ridiculous...I have yet to meet one MMA fan who watches WWE. Not to say they are not out there but the majority of MMA fans do not watch wrestling.

The dramatic increase in numbers came from the simple general intrigue of a huge pro Wrestler entering in a real live MMA fight. This came from a lot current WWE fans(There are a ton of people who ONLY watch pro wrestling), MMA fans, and just the general public. I personally know people who don't follow any combat sports or wrestling currently who wanted to see it. It kind of like a circus act, its intriguing because it hasn't been done before. Now something like Mayweather in the WWE is not going to draw any outside attention expect for some hard core Mayweather fans....because its fake. But in the WWE world all wrestling fans are going to love that angle.

Believe me....with the right marketing Anderson Silva Vs Roy Jones Jr sells. There will be boixng fans and MMA fans watching.

Roy has no business in there with a guy with a 1-1 record in boxing

look at the name of that subforum. i know plenty wrestling fans who buy UFC fights. as a matter of fact, I made the mistake of watching Taylor/Pavlik II with UFC/Wrestling fans who could only talk about Kimbo, Wrestling and how Kimbo could destroy any boxer out there.

i know theres a good chance of marketability, but the Lesnar fight was propelled because of both MMA and Wrestling markets already having a relationship.

They should make a whole PPV out of this:

              Roy Jones vs. Anderson Silva
              Wlad Klitschko vs. Antonio Nogueira
              Miguel Cotto vs. BJ Penn
Kelly Pavlik vs. Georges St. Pierre

Again I never said that there wasn't fans of both. I said the statement "Wrestling fans are also MMA fans" is false. Well its like also saying "boxing fans are also MMA fans" which I also disagree with. Yeah there are a lot of boxing fans that watch MMA...but I wouldn't make that statement since there are a lot of boxing fans who don't watch MMA.

MMA threads are always being created on here...I mean the main page of boxingscene has MMA news for christs sake. You're telling me there is no cross appeal with MMA and Boxing?

Let me put it this way, if Mayweather fought BJ Penn in a LW MMA fight I guarantee you a ton of boxing fans would order that fight. Would that be because MMA and Boxing markets already having a relationship?

Ok, so you're saying Boxing fans are also MMA fans. I'm just simply keeping up with your logic with your original comment about the Lesnar PPV numbers.

Lesnar in UFC = High PPV #s because Wrestling fans are also MMA fans

Mayweather in UFC = High PPV #s because Boxing fans are also MMA fans
