anyway, cong**** to Nate Campbell. I've stated in many Diaz/Campbell fights that Campbell was one not to be overlooked especially in this situation where desperation can bring out the best in a fighter. This was Nate's last chance at being known for more than someone who just couldnt break the surface and he fought like it. He bruised, battered and broke Juan down the way only a veteran fighter who knows the game could.
As for Juan, well, Nate presented a challenge which Juan had never experienced. He was doing great for the first 4 rounds, but it was pretty obvious that he was getting frustrated with Campbell's refusal to back down and submit to the Baby Bull's bullying. He also didn't know how to handle an injury such as the swollen eye and cut. Why would you continue to wrestle headfirst and agitate the injury? Especially rubbing heads with the injured sides? Other things also affecting Juan was his Cutman. WTF was dude doing? He was practically punching Juan with the metal and didn't seem to use the appropriate solution for Juan's cuts or any kind of jelly to stop the bleeding.
I'm a big Diaz fan and will continue to support Juan through out his career. I still feel that he is capable learning from this experience and will be making adjustments. So much that if a rematch occurs, I still would pick Diaz. Even though I would have liked to have seen Nate win a more cleaner, less dirtier fight where his fist did all the work, its good to see someone who has been struggling come out on top. Now the question is, will Nate take advantage of this huge victory? Or will he choke and be the designer of his own demise?
