If Peter can't stop old Maskaev, then he's not really a world class heavyweight

But I don't like the way The Ring Magazine rates Peter above Chagaev, when the only top 20 heavyweight he's ever defeated was a shot, fat blown-up middleweight, who he actually lost to in the first fight. Chagaev has five wins over top 20* heavyweights including three top ten (Valuev, Virchis, and Ruiz) and two more top twenty (Sprott and Skelton).

People give Chagaev flak for not knocking out Skelton, who'd never been stopped, and Wlad for not stopping Sultan. That's why I think it's fair to expect a KO by Peter over a 39 year old who's been stopped five times, if he really is the #2 heavyweight in the world.

Wanna bet 10K with me on this fight? I got Peter for 10K!!

Peter is mediocre, but Oleg may be a shot fighter. In fact it may have been a little ridiculous of me to make the bet with ree****yaluss.
      Allright fair enough.

Sam Peter is in his prime, 12 years younger. Some say he's the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division...

Is it fair to say, if Peter fails to knock out Maskaev, then he's really not very good?
it was humiliating enough for peter to go 20 rounds with a pudgy shot blown up middleweight in toney. then not so much as even being able to make an exhausted jameel mccline flinch from a punch. his overrated power will take an even further beating if he cant stop a maskeav who;s now 39 yrs old coming off a bad back injury and has been stopped 5 times by guys who werent known as big punchers besides tua. peter really needs to take maskeav out convincingly or his stock falls even more

in reality,,,,peter didnt give wlad one hell of a fight. 2 of the 3 knockdowns were bogus,,,and the 10th round kd was far from brutal. that was more wald getting off balance in panic mode and falling into the ropes. most of the rounds were clearly klits

What if I was to say( before the Klitschko fight), " if Wlad doesn't KO Ibragimov then he's not a worthy hw champion." Would that be fair? No, it wouldn't..
I think it was pretty fair. ibragimov is a crafty southpaw who was never beaten whereas maskeav is now 39 yrs old and has been stopped 5 times. 4 of the times to only average punchers and he has a chronic back problem. peter needs to stop maskeav impressively or his stock falls

Excellent post. Of course I'm one of the few who rates Chagaev in the p4p top 15.

chageav without question deserves to be ranked above peter. peter has not beaten anyone to be considered above chageav. thats a no brainer to me
