I guess you haven't seen Chuck Wepner fight.
Why does Sam Peter rabbit punch so much?

If you had better reading comprehension ability, raycorey, you'd be aware that plenty of people have complained about Peter's rabbit punching:If he does it so much like Tunney has being crying about WHY dont his Opponents or their Team point it out to the refereee,Organisation,Promoters or whoever is in charge???
Am not encouraging bad fighting in the ring but surely the people who really care about their respective fighter would have call up on it not some internet crybaby.
James Toney
Wladimir Klitschko
Lou DiBella (on behalf of McCline)
Taurus Sykes
Denis Rappaport
If you were more intelligent, you'd understand that rabbit punching can have SERIOUS consequences (like what happened to Joe Mesi and Gerald McClellan) and realize that I was not "crying", but expressing concern.
In making this thread, I was motivated by concern for the 39 year old Oleg Maskaev. He's a good, decent man who deserves a better fate than permanent brain damage, and he has a wife and young children to look after.Last edited by The Hammer; 03-07-2008, 07:57 PM.Comment

Same reason Hopkins, Hatton, Lennox Lewis, and Muhammad Ali did. It's an effective tactic. BTW, where was all this clinching in the Bryd, Brewster, and Ibragimov fights? Or are you just trying to get more mileage out of the Peter fight?Comment

Yeah because Byrd, Brewster and Ibragimov were really big guys
and he still clinched a bit, did you even watch the Ibragimov fight?

Few guys are as big as he is. You might remember that Brewster was big enough to KO him, but in the rematch he got owned. Yes, he kept Sultan at a safe distance with his jab. There was some holding when the smaller guy got in close, but nothing even close to being warned for. Of course I didn't watch the fight with an anti-Klitschko agenda either.

Wladimir didn't clinch at all against Austin, and very little against Byrd, Ibragimov, and Brewster. Most fighters will clinch in close a little in every fight. There was no excessive clinching by Wladimir in those fights. Did you really watch them?
If you want to see clinching, watch Skelton vs. Sprott.Last edited by The Hammer; 03-07-2008, 09:13 PM.Comment
