    I have to say...

De La Hoya has fought the better fighters. He also lost to the majority of them.

People knock wins for Mayweather like Ricky Hatton, because he was small.

How about De La Hoya losing his welterweight title to a guy who moved up from 135, skipping 140?

I think it is pretty close though. Old Whitaker, old Chavez, and then Vargas and Quartey, both who never really got a win over a real major opponent. It's really hard to know what to do with the Mosley rematch and the Trinidad fight, as well as the Sturm fight and the Whitaker fight. Since it is difficult to dive into what gift decisions should be overturned, the easiest thing to do is just leave them as they were decided, because the number of fights that go each way is about even.

As the resumes stand right now, I think Mayweather has the better resume, by a bit.

I would favour any resume who fought the best in all weightclasses, regardless of some close, disputed decisions, over some undefeated record with no names the last 5 years.

But Mayweather did beat DLH, so it's pretty much irrelevant.

Mayweather is the better fighter. DLH had bigger balls.

You're all saying DLH has fought the better fighters but are you all forgetting that he lost to most of them?? So what if he's fought some of the best fighters of the past 10-15 years. It's about who you beat. Not who you fight

Well, that's what I'm talking about. Mayweather hasn't really beaten anyone except for a few medium names besides of DLH.

I'd take a resume like DLH's over Mayweather's any day, at least he was extremely competitive against everyone he fought, taking some, losing some.

It's better to fight and lose than to not fight at all.

Those wins by DLH are better than Mayweather's wins IMO. He also beat Hernandez, Leija, Gonzalez, Ruelas, Molina & Paez.

Yeah I suppose. The thing is everybody knows DLH beat Trinidad and the second fight with Mosley. but then again alot of people say he got beat by whitaker and sturm so it's hard to say.

And quite a lot of people say Mayweather lost to Israel Castillo the first time.
