Skill-wise, he's beyond Israel and I think he's had a far better career. His only real flaw as always, has been his stamina, defense, and shakey chin. He could be rattled at bantamweight, but he didn't need to utilize nearly as much headmovement as he desperately needed for these bouts with Vasquez because he would just eventually smash through his opponents.

I really didnt think it was smart of him and his team to take on Vasquez as soon as he came up, I remember before the first fight that I felt it's going to go either way. He really needed to test the waters at super bantamweight before takin on a Vasquez, he needed to feel a big punch at this weight, he needed to see what it feels like when he fades at this weight in order to know that he has to pace himself better (wich he actually did in this 3rd fight), and he just needed that experience. If he would have got it sooner, I really doubt he would have tried to out muscle Vasquez in their first two fights.

Not takin anything away from Vasquez, he's always been strong, always ate alot of punches, and always been a workhorse type fighter. Takin punches just to give his own. But Marquez, the fact he's far better, far more skilled, far more accomplished...To see him fall victim of bad decision making by his team, he really doesn't deserve that. The dude was top 10 p4p easily, and you saw that. I mean he rocked Vasquez like 3 times in this third fight, even knockin him down. It's just they put him in there against someone who was just too big for him. I think he deserves better handling then that, I'm not sayin these fights shouldn't have takin place, but they shouldn't have taken place so soon.

Anyways, Marquez still has a jab that can turn human skin to ground beef and a right hand that can decapitate. So he's still got some moves to make. I'd like to see him stay at super bantamweight, maybe take what he's learned and see how far it gets him and eventually, come back for one more against Vasquez.
the better boxer.. but not the better fighter.

Rafa was feasting on guys physically smaller than him at bantams, everyone always said that he was a huge bantam. Rafa finally stepped up to someone that equaled him physicaly and he got beat by the better fighter. Izzy and Rafa matched up perfectly in size and at their peak and Izzy came out as the better fighter. No excuse Israel Vazquez was and is the better of the 2 fighters.
Raf had his fair share of problems with "those physically smaller guys that he was feasting on." He's been on the canvas and been stung plenty of times at Bantamweight. Even in the Mabuza fights, he had slight problems. He got dazed in their first fight, and faded in the second fight, only to come on strong. "Feasting on smaller guys," lol Giiit the **** outta here. Those were perfect matches, everyone from Austin, to Too Sharp, to Mabuza were all evenly matched with him. It's just at the end of the day Marquez hits like a wrecking ball.

The same thing happened in every fight with Vasquez, Marquez always started strong, but Vasquez was just too big for him to be able to keep it up, and Marquez couldn't even turn it up later in the fights. I mean he came up in weight with that shakey chin, minimal head movement, and minimal footwork and ****** on Vasquez till Israel looked like he was in a car wreck. He broke his nose lol, smashed his face up, was even able to knock Vasquez down. All that, even though he had his share of minor problems in a lower weight division.

So again, skill wise, Marquez is the better fighter, Vasquez is just stronger then him and thats it. Raf's beatin better opposition and he earned his P4P status in impressive fashion.

Now it's just a shame to see him have to take this set back in his career. I mean he basically moved up in weight and went straight for the tank of the division.

I'm not sayin Vasquez got lucky, I'm sayin he's just stronger, and to see him get all this recognition because he gets past a smaller P4P skilled fighter just sucks lol. I mean Israel almost lost to Jhonny, but he came back to win with a crazy KO. But before that he was gettin picked apart by Gonzalez, and to see that guy milk off of Raf's name....lol again, that just sucks.

Yeah well, as usual you're on the money.

But this issue is becoming stale because of the share that claim true legitimacies where they clearly "shouldn't" apply.

Get real people, Vasquez is not the better fighter.

lol that's dumb. He's a tough as nails workman who has now established himself but Rafa is the P4P superstar. Jesus look who he's ****ing wrecked.

let's not even mention the win streak.
