I think people have very short memories and actually forget that at the time this was considered a dangerous fight for Jones believe it or not. Even Bert Sugar said that if Jones pulled it off it would be amazing achievement and it was. In fact that achievement had not been in 106 years, so it doesn't matter if Ruiz was a weak belt holder, it was still an amazing achievement for Roy Jones.

He won a "Title" that was vacated byt the true champ.
So in effect the True champ never lost that belt in a fight.
Why didn't Roy fight Lennox Lewis???

He promised Tarver he'd fight him right after Ruiz, I guess he's a man of his word.

                Funny funny ****.
Move up to HW take on the least risk then use the excuse of a promise to Tarver to avoid the real HW champ who actually vacated the "Title" you won.
Then get beaten by Tarver only to have the Judges help you out.
A guy who after the first fight Roy tried to get removed from the mandatory position.
Which he failed to do and the rest is History.
I don't doubt Roy's skill at all but when it is boosted by cheating.....it takes away the shine.
If anything Roy was a "Paper Champ" at HW.

He was still a champ, whether you like it or not, yes he beat Ruiz, who is a terrible champion, but he was the WBA champion, and Jones beat him.

From what I know, Jones wanted the rematch to happen so he could try to prove the first fight was a fluke. And he won the first fight, barely. What do you have against Jones?

Gavin Rees holds a Belt at Light-welterweight....yet the regarded champ at 140 is Hatton.
Maccarinelli holds a Belt at Cruiser without beating the linear champ.
In fact he never won his belt in a fight.

Personally I can't accept either of their claims to be "World Champion".

Same goes for Roy claiming to be a World Champion at Heavy weight.

That means I could set up a UFO Heavyweight Title and then claim to be the World Champion.

As far as I see it a Juiced up Roy moved up to HW and beat a HW fighter.
                    Not a real World Champion.

Your point of view is wjhat is a part of what is wrong with Boxing.
People like you can accept multiple "World Champions" at the same weight.
Can you name any other sport where there are more than one set of world champions?
Does Formula One have 2 -3 World champs?
Does Football(Soccer to the yanks) have more than One World champion?

You ask what i have against Jones?
His false claim to be the HW champ of the world when Lennox Lewis undisputedly held that claim.
The fact he was tested positive for steroids.

I don't understand why I am vilified for that?
