He is very underrated from his loss to Toney and really did do a lot and reached more of his potential than a ton of fighters I could think of, past and present.

He had a string of wins that was quite stunning before Toney. He took out undefeated Frank Tate for the title then defended one fight after another against Juan Roldan, Sambu Kalambay (spectacular first round KO), Iran Barkley, Marlon Starling and Donald Curry! That list of fighters in itself is a very fine resume.

He went on to have some decent victories and regain the WBA title over Victor Cordoba, Merqui Sosa, John Scully and did only lose four fights.

I'd say he did pretty well and while he may not have reached his complete potential he still did a lot and many had him P4P No, 1 at the time of his loss.

Anyway, as someone else mentioned I think Judah could always be brought up in these cases. One of the most stunning physically talented fighters ever. He had everything you could want in a fighter except the big factor, mental strength! Of course there have also been about a million prospects who were touted as the next greatest thing ever only to lose a fight and fall off the face of the earth.

i agree with most of that but he did lose to Little & Rocchigianni ,Nunn on his best day would have whipped both of these IMO

was it the same Rochigianni that Eubank whipped

You should not be too hard on Valuev, not many people can survive being shot off the top of the empire state building by fighter planes!!!

Besides, if he shaved off all of that body hair, he might be able to make cruiserweight
