Tyson/Holyfield III - Possibly in the works

          Holyfield would consider Tyson fight

LONDON (Ticker) - Evander Holyfield claims he could meet old foe Mike Tyson for a third time despite both former undisputed world heavyweight champions being in their 40s.

Holyfield beat Tyson in 1996 and 1997 - the second courtesy of Tyson’s infamous disqualification for biting a chunk out of his opponent’s ear - and both men have made several questionable comebacks in recent years.

However Holyfield, 45, has revealed he is considering an offer from 41-year-old Tyson’s camp to meet in the ring for a third time.

“There has been some talk between us,” Holyfield told The Guardian newspaper in London.

“Mike had Jeff Fenech, who’s been training him, call me a few months ago. Jeff says Mike wants to fight me again - but he needs to know if I would agree to it.

Holyfield said he sought assurances that Tyson would turn up and fight.

“I said, ‘It all depends on what they are going to give us - because I’m gonna catch a lot of flak if I say I’m fighting Mike Tyson again. I’ve already said I don’t want to fight Mike no more’,” he added.

“Jeff says, ‘What if Mike gets in proper shape?’ I told him that’s OK but I can’t be part of it if Mike’s going to pull out. Jeff said, ‘The main thing Mike wants to know is if you would be willing to fight him again?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if the price is right, I probably would’.”

If this fight happens it is a disgrace. Tyson should no longer fight, this seems like a tabloid type fight that would get alot of viewers just to see what happens.

Thats right, the ref took 14 seconds to count to 9-1/2. I timed it and the fight should have ended there. Sure Mike was outclassed in that one, but IMO, he pulled it out with that one shot. If not for that call, we would have had quite a few more years of Tyson domination. (speculated, he may not have went nuts and went to prison.) It was a tragedy to see him so mentally weak after that, considering he was thought of as being invinsible and built up quite a following. I wasnt a Tyson fan then, but I am now and would love to see them fight. It would be interresting to see how they do together now that their skills are on equal ground. Tyson still has the pop to end Holifields night and Holifield still has enough heart to stiffle Tyson. Intriguing. Thanks, to whoever is reading this.
Totally disagree even if Douglas would of been counted out Tyson still would of lost sooner or later, his skills were already badly eroding since the 1st Bruno fight, I think a prime fit Bowe and an early 90s Holyfield would of beat Tyson handily. All you have to do is look at the Ruddock fights and see how many punches Tyson was caught by slow plodding Ruddock, he had no head movement and was getting caught by wild looping hooks that wouldn't have even come close to landing in his prime. The fact is Tyson was spent force ever since the 1st Bruno fight and it just got worse and worse, I don't think Douglas was badly stunned by Tyson's uppercut, he was just waiting for the ref to count to 8 so he could fully recover, even if the ref would of counted fast Douglas still would of got up and survived the round because the bell rung right after he got up. And then in the next round he gave Tyson a hammering so that just shows you how hurt Douglas was.

Even Danny Williams was able to take Tyson's punches and come back and stop Tyson in embarrassing fashion. I think your forgetting that Tyson's power come from great technique and speed two things he hasn't got anymore, he only looks for one big predictable punch. All i can say is if anyone is a real fan of Tyson then they wouldn't want him to fight again.
