Many athletes will tell you that there careers went down hill because of the "outside" distractions, pointing to the lady at home. When she is bitchy, your world goes to ****. This is also why I liked Sampras and Lewis; they waited until very late in their careers to consider the "wife/kids" issue.

Tyson was untrained, mentally and physically for the Douglas fight. His own team said they had to push him just to get on the plane to Japan. Many reporters also noticed Tyson's attitude when there as being miserable.

Tyson isn't the only one of course...we've seen this with many others.

People like to bring up Ali as well and how he looked later in his career, but many fail to point out how the 3+ year layoff hurt him. Same as Louis and many others, like Benny Leonard.

One of the things I like about Wlad is that he stays in shape all year round and doesn’t seem to let outside distractions get to him, except for the rumored over-confidence going into the Sanders fight, which he said he learned from.
So, you pretty much proved my point that Tyson NEVER fought anyone that would resemble Wlad in his prime, since when he fought Douglas he was already on the downhill of his career?

All other stuff does not bother me much.

Tyson fought 6'5 athletic jabber Tony Tucker, VERY similar to Wladimir except he wasn't as smart or skilled but very tough.
Tyson also fought 6'5 Tyrell Biggs who tried to imitate Muhammad Ali and got knocked the f out. Again he was nowhere near Wlad's skill level but similar.
6'3 jabber Pinklon Thomas, a very good avoided contender in the early 80's,
6'4 jabber Carl Williams, gave trouble to Larry Holmes,
6'4 old Larry Holmes, known for his great jab, too bad he was ancient during that fight.

Tyson for all of his career fought people taller than him. He neutralized his opponents jabs with his head movement.

Buster Douglas was not the only one.

Tucker: 6'5, 82-inch reach, fast jab, nice right hand. Not "great" but good. He also had good movement, much better than Wlad. Wlad has the advantage in strength (from what people say) and the big bombs.

Tyson out-jabbed, like "The Manchine" (who has good posts) pointed out. One thing Wlad would have to do is to hold; hold, and hold, like Tucker and many others did, like Smith (who was a very strong fighter with a good punch).

Tyson was always smaller than his opponents were. I think the average height of the time for a HW was actually around 6'2 1/2.

Wlad has never fought someone like Tyson as of yet. The closest two were Peter and Brewster and that is a bad comparison since neither has the speed, movement, ability, reflexes, and aggression as Tyson. Brewster has decent aggression, but it doesn't compare. Brewster also won the first fight do to Wlad gassing out or whatever the reason was. Some of it, maybe all of it, had to do with the body-shots Brewster was landing...which is also what a young Tyson was known for.

I'm not worried so much with Wlad's chin as I am his stamina. When I root for Wlad, I start to hold my breath after round 6. This is also why I am not to hard on the way he has been fighting since his jab sets a good pace with the fighters he has been fighting.

          lol ??

'like he did with iggy' ?? dude did u actually watch the fight ?? NOTHING happened. NEITHER fighters look a threat to one another. they both looked like amateurs.

I dont usually badmouth against Wlad cos hes a good fighter. But u mad a wrong example there. that fight was crap and was big dissapointment.

but hey i guess ur entitled to ur own opinion i suppose...

My opinion is either of the 'Bad Ass Fighters' could knock him out, too fast and powerful, specially Tyson, not to mention Wlad infamous glass jaw !

The other names are definitely interesting propositions, and you can make a case for Wladimir both beating and being KO'd by any of them.
Ike was good but i wasn't saying he was a more skilled fighter, wlad may have the tools to beat him but ike was a scary dude and i could image wlad falling apart against him.
