I think it is pretty unanimous that Chavez is #1 by most accounts. He won over 80 times before even really experiencing a life-and-death fight.
Morales, Barrera, Marquez are probably clustered around the 2-4 spots.
I'm curious if people think Castillo has done enough to be mentioned alongside Morales, Barrera and Marquez, or if some may even contend that he should be placed above.
Earlier in his career, he got stopped 4 times, but I have heard that all of them were by cuts (and I believe it... just take a look at his chin against Corrales, who is considered a lights out puncher).
He got his first real big break by beating and then defending his title with a draw against Stevie Johnston. Very good wins against a very slick boxer who was considered the biggest threat to Shane Mosley before he headed north.
Next, his two fights with Mayweather happened, when he will probably be forever remembered as the guy who came the closest to beating a prime Floyd Mayweather, and there are quite a few who can reasonably say that Castillo should have won the first fight (I do NOT want this thread to turn into a ****ing discussion about this, pick one of the trillion that have already been made to bump).
After a few tune-ups, he went on a big name spree, by beating Lazcano (who was a big win at lightweight), Casamayor, and Julio Diaz (considered a very hot prospect/contender).
Then his first fight with Diego Corrales. Absolutely earth-shattering. I might be the only one (I doubt it), but even though Castillo lost, I thought he walked away looking better from that fight than Corrales did. Castillo was winning the fight on the cards, in the momentum, and I think he was breaking Corrales's body down more than his was getting broken down.
2nd fight had the weight fiasco, and he showed that he had figured Corrales out, confirming my su****ions.
That's pretty much the end of his run as a prime fighter. He looked average at best against Reyes & Ngoudjo. He got destroyed by Hatton because he couldn't stand up straight without falling, and The Hitman did exactly what he needed to.
So, what do you all think? Do the accomplishment listed above put him in the same league as the Mexican Featherweight Trio? Above maybe? Or a few steps below? If you have him below, who do you place ahead of him in addition to Chavez, Morales, Barrera and Marquez?

How could I forget a guy who won belts in 2 weight classes and finished his career undefeated? Incredible.
