I want to see what happens when a decent puncher hits him and can take his shot. A guy like Jorge Barrios or Humberto Soto would answer those questions, but Gamboa needs a step up.
Agreed. I'd like to see him fight Soto or Juarez, a step up would be nice, I think the main thing he has to work on right now is his defense.

I actually think he has good defense. He may keep his hands low at times but he's excellent at slipping punches.

my experience tells me that if one still fights by punching from their waste after 400 fights, it is too late to train that out of them. i doubt they are going to be able to correct that. he also has a very bad tendency of backing straight up.

he relies soley on his speed and punching power and he comes across as being very ****y like abdre berto.

it's guaranteed that any SF that fights with his hands around his waist and backs straight up will get KTFO.

very few fighters can get away with that in the higher weight classes. but NO ONE can do that in the smaller weight classes. those fighters are just way TOO FAST.

a technically sound fighter that has a great jab and keeps their hands up will kick his ass easy...
the ametuer game is different from the pro's. getting hit isn't so bad at ametuer if you can hit abck more. it's harder to get nkocked out.

as a pro he will learn to adjust. that's what being prio means. you are in it as a job and you are there to learn, get better, stay good, and beat your opponents. 20 fights is a make or break for me.

Exactly. I dont get it how anyone could NOT be amazed about Gamboa.
I think hes amazing! I have never seen such an great talent before! And he was never knocked down, that was just a slip. And hes not looking only good in round 1 but from the beginning to the end.

Slipping punches will only work for a limited amount of time, he needs to develop a higher guard if he wants longevity.

I bet if Gamboas fighting a champion he knows what hes up againts and he will know what to do to win the fight. But why should he overrate opponents that are no thread to him?

Other opinions are alway interesting. I look at him and just don't see it. The real way we will find out is when he steps up to a real fighter. I know the guy he fought was 13-1 but as you could tell, he was a stiff.

I've seen too many fighters start off like Gamboa; great speed and power with no defense. And to this point, without exception, when they got in their with a top 10 fighter they got exposed.

We'll see, but again I expect the same thing will happen to Gamboa. Like I said, one to two more fights and I hope they step him up to a Soto or Juarez. I think either fighter picks him apart.....
