Klitschko did as well as he could have considering the opponent he was facing. Ibragimov is not easily knocked out. Anybody who thinks Klitschko could have ended it early doesn't know what they are talking about.

This fight got more mainstream press ink than any Heavyweight fight in the last couple of years. Klitschko got a seat on Conan O’Brien and Fox News and the house was packed at Madison Square Garden. This was a golden, and lost, opportunity to stamp himself in the public consciousness. Ibragimov appeared no more dangerous than Klitschko knockout victims Calvin Brock in November 2006 or Ray Austin last year; if he had fought as if he believed that, Klitschko would have done himself and the sport a service.
It was better for him if the fight was the way it was its better to be safe then sorry, it only takes one punch and yo can loose everything just what happend in the sanders and brewsters fights Wlad didint want to loose it all just like before. He could have thrown more right hands but he knows the sultan is a good fighter with a lot of amateur exprerince.

the way I look at it is styles makes fights. Wlads style is jab jab control the fight and then in the midd rounds the right hand comes in to play, its because he doesnt want to loose again because he doesnt know how to take punch its not so much his chin its something in his head he just chokes when hes pressured. Vitali is a totaly different fighter who is not scared to take a punch because he can handle it and that makes for more entertnaining fights, and he has to come back.

Klitschko will get his share of grief for never really engaging Ibragimov and should. The one right hand he landed flush late in the fight all but knocked his foe out of the ring. There’s no faulting the logic of taking the easy win when one can get it, and Klitschko figured out early that he could win with his jab alone. He couldn’t have picked a worse time for that sort of strategic decision.

This fight got more mainstream press ink than any Heavyweight fight in the last couple of years. And unless people think Wladimir is ****** or didn't realize this they might be missing the point. The guy couldn't control himself. He was more afraid of losing it all by getting hurt then trying to win. It was BLATANT.

.....In watching the fight again today, the 12th round was a perfect example. Wlad went for broke with a right at about 30 seconds to go and he missed wildly. He was wide open for an Ibragimov counter as he lunged forward from the miss. If Sultan would have been able to get off a left hook, Wlady was coming forward and right into it.

                  HIT AND NOT BE HIT

Seems fine when Mayweather does it.

                  Klitschko gets linched for it

                  Go figure.

I am a boxing analyst, not a lover nor a hater. I am certainly not sticking up for Klitschko, but the ridiculous smears do get a bit tiresome. About the only thing Klitschko did wrong was paw the jab a little too frequently. That left him open to get hit. The fact that Ibragimov didn't hit him doesn't change the fact that Klitschko was needlessly presenting his opponent with an opportunity.
